Freedom (part four)
Posted on March 19th, 2015 by T'Lira

Nadel Taerys ran and kept running.

The Jem’Hadar were catching up with her as she sprinted away from the pursuers who would kill her without a thought. They were faster than the small Bajoran, though, and they caught up quickly. It didn’t help that she tripped over something she doesn’t even want to think about. She scrambled to get into a seated position, tucked against the bulkhead.

“Please!” she begged them, “Please, don’t kill me! I’ve done nothing to you! Please! I’m all my sister’s got, it would-”

A quick burst of light ended her sentence prematurely and permanently. The Jem’Hadar continued through the ship, leaving a trail of dead behind them.

T’Lira saw the Jem’Hadar soldiers storm past their hiding position and turned to fix Eddie with a stern look.

“I am unsure as to the viability of this plan,” she told her fellow cadet bluntly.

He shrugged, “Hey, they think that Vulcans can’t lie and Sorak is off with the other group, getting ready to take Engineering back. Just trust me, eh?”

Another cadet snickers, but sobers up quickly and fiddles with his newly placed three pips before stilling again.

“Ready?” Eddie whispers.

“I am prepared,” T’Lira replied, following Eddie out into the open, ready to begin this little facade to take back the ship.

Eddie stepped forward in front of Lieutenant Commander Alvarez and cleared his throat.

“It’s not polite to shoot someone’s subordinate officers without asking permission from their commanding officer,” he snaps, trying to look imposing. Somehow, all of the cadets had found standard-duty uniforms and the pips to rank them all at Lt. Cmdr. or above.

The expected Vorta steps through the Jem’Hadar soldiers and asks, his voice very arrogant, “You are?”

“Captain Edward Harrel. Do you have a purpose for attacking my ship?” he retorted, his tone one of anger and indignation.

The Vorta looked smug as he replied, “I was told that the captain of this ship was a Tellarite. You are lying.”

That was T’Lira’s cue. She stepped forward and tried her best to look as if she had just been fighting off a Jem’Hadar squad. It wasn’t too hard, considering they just had done so.

“Sir, the invaders have taken Main Engineering,” she reported, noticing how the Vorta’s gaze flicked down to the three pips she wore.

“Thank you, Commander,” Eddie replied before turning back to the Vorta, “Now, do you want to state your reasoning for attacking my ship?”

Nearby, T’Lira caught a glimpse of Doctor Fitzpatrick looking very confused, but quickly understanding. The doctor reached up and pulled two of his three full pips from his collar and pocketed them. Other crewmen did the same, and soon the entire ship appeared to be full of crewmen and ensigns with a small senior staff complement.

“Your ship is intruding upon Dominion territory. I advise you to withdraw,” the Vorta snapped haughtily.

T’Lira didn’t catch Eddie’s reply, she was already jogging off to regroup with a small team to take back the bridge. She did, however, see the Vorta order a Jem’Hadar to grah Eddie and take him to the bridge. Clearly, the Dominion wanted the command codes for this ship. Eddie would indeed “resist” torture very well.

“Go,” she ordered her team and they moved off into the Jeffries tubes, getting into position to storm the bridge.

Nicely done, and I look forward to the outcome.
