Freedom (part three)
Posted on March 13th, 2015 by T'Lira

Chief Medical Officer Stanley Fitzpatrick jogged down the corridors, trying to find the cadets. So far, he’d found two and sent them to appropriate stations. But the other fourteen were proving elusive.

As he ran, another klaxon sounded. The Intruder Alert klaxon. It suddenly became that much more urgent to find the inexperienced cadets.

Five minutes later, he found them clustered near a Jeffries tube. Three of them were half-way in the tube, while the others were standing around quietly discussing something.

“Aren’t you kids supposed to be somewhere else?” Fitzpatrick asked.

A Betazoid shook her head, “None of us were given any orders. We’re trying to find a way to take back the ship from the Jem’Hadar boarders. Got any ideas?”

He laughed softly and answered, “Use the Jeffries tubes to find the armory. It’s on the next deck up and about twenty meters to the left of the tube. Arm yourselves and practice some good ol’ guerilla warfare. I need two of you for field medics.”

The Betazoid and a human girl lifted their hands.

“We’ve got training,” the human said, “Besides, someone’s gotta tell these idiots where the bad guys are.”

“I hardly believe we are ‘idiots’, Elena,” a Vulcan female told the human, “If anything, we are merely fools.”

“At least you’ve got something right. Stay safe, guys. We’ll be in touch,” Elena grinned, “C’mon, Bril. We’ve got hell to raise in Sickbay.”

“Not in my Sickbay, you don’t!” Stanley reprimanded.

As he led the pair off, the others resumed their plotting.

“Well, they obviously want some information,” Eddie Harrel mused, “So which of us is the best as B-S-ing our way through something?”

“If you are referring to bluffing, I believe I am proficient at such,” T’Lira offered, still unsure as to what exactly Eddie was planning.

“Good. As of right now, we are the senior staff. We lie, say that everyone else is on a cadet cruise, and then we take back the ship. Ready?”

“That is hardly a plan!” another cadet scoffed. Eddie glared.

“It’s called make it up as we go along, you moron. Now hurry up! I think I see Mister Alvarez up ahead!”

As they hurried off, T’Lira wondered if they were all going to survive this admittedly poor plan Eddie had created.

A dubious plan, especially when an Eddie comes up with it…
