Well, I’m not sure how much of this we should necessarily expect to apply in this case. This article doesn’t cover sapient, bipedal reptiles, after all, who presumably did possess, use, and largely rely on more complex forms of communication. Still, as far as I know, we don’t know in character if they even ARE still sapient, so there’s no reason not to try. And humans still have body language cues we recognize, so I imagine it’d be possible to get SOMETHING across this way.
I’m just saying, we’ll probably still want to stick more conventional translator software on the holo-probe, so we can work on trying to talk to them in the usual fashion as well.
