As T’Lira returned to her quarters after the ship was put into tow on the way to Vinland Station, she noticed that her belongings were thrown every which way. The only thing still in its original place was the antique clock she had gotten herself years ago. It was still magnetically bolted to the bedside table, ticking its way through everything.
She surveyed her quarters and decided to clean up a bit, as she was not yet low enough on energy that she absolutely needed to sleep.
So, she began with the small kitchen unit she had put together, checking the various metal jars to ensure they were still intact before rearranging them in the cabinet. Next, the dishes were rearranged, with the loss of a few ceramic plates she had rather foolishly decided to bring along on a starship of all places.
Then, she moved on to the main living area. For some reason, her bookcase had wound up tipped forward onto the floor, spilling PADDs and paper books all over the floor. With a mild sigh of annoyance, she pulled the shelf back into an upright position before placing the books and PADDs back on the shelves, deciding on a whim to arrange them in a different pattern than previously, a more aesthetically pleasing pattern. T’Lira had no idea why she decided to do so, just that she did.
And that was when she started to feel a bit energy-depleted, but her desk was in disarray and that needed to be corrected. As she crouched to recover a wayward PADD that held the results of a recent experiment, she suddenly felt very tired.
She didn’t quite recall what happened after that point, except that she woke up on the floor in her still-filthy uniform with her hair falling out of its bun and her shift having started already.
That was the closest she had ever come to feeling panic before, but then, she had never almost slept through her shift before.

Kinda reminds me of getting home from vacation, but much worse. You want to unpack and fall asleep instead! Nice. :)
