The crush can launch was well underway and all was proceeding according to plan. For now, at least. It was a human who had once said "The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men gang aft agley." Hopefully, it would not be proven true.
Hope… where had that come from? It was an illogical emotion, yet it seemed to save many a day. Perhaps it would warrant a later study. Even so, it was only logical to believe that this plan would go well, considering the effort put into carrying it out, by the entire crew and the miners. In this case, hope had gone a long way towards fulfilling the goals of this mission.
Now, as T’Lira tapped a few keys on her PADD, she noticed a message from her parents. Most likely informing her of her father’s newest paper or of a sibling’s achievement. Perhaps one day they would write to the others of an accomplishment of hers. They never had approved of her joining Starfleet. But it was done. She did not mind that her siblings obeyed their parent’s wishes and left her to carry her own path. As an instructor had once said, one can only live life if they live it on their own terms.
Even so, it would only be a short time before her family would discover that she had returned to Starfleet against their express wishes. She would, as the humans said, "catch hell" for her decision. That was acceptable in her eyes. She was an adult, and within her right to make her own decisions. Her parents were rather conservative anyway and that had imprinted upon her sibling, which is why she refused to allow her family to watch after her son while she was away. However illogical her decision was, it was best for all involved.
As she ignored the message and stored it for later perusal, her mind wandered to what the next days might bring.

Well done! Bit of a rebellious Vulcan; I like it.
