:: in the center seat, thinking about her private conversation with Nourik before he beamed away, hoping he realizes the necessity of her suggested course of action ::

:: shakes her head as she returns to the present ::

:: on the bridge, at her station, doing her usual reading over of reports, but is also expectant of their incoming guests ::

:: finishes her checklist and nods, discarding the PADD and taking up position next to one of the biobeds. She taps her combadge :: +CO+ Sickbay is ready for action.

+CMO+ Thank you, doctor. Stand by.

:: stands and walks toward the front bridge stations, pausing to lay a hand on the back of Lexy's chair :: CSO: Have both sides sent us the biosignatures of their five patients?

:: checks her display :: CO: Aye, Captain, we've received both transmissions and we're ready to begin transport on your orders.

:: opens her mouth to give the order, but turns toward tactical first, remembering the last time they did something like this ::

CTO: Is security in place in sickbay? Nothing overbearing; we aren't dealing with the Xovul this time.

CO: Security in place, ma'am. :: barely looks up from her console as she responds ::

:: gets her medical tricorder ready ::

:: turns her head towards tactical :: CO/CTO: Perhaps it would be good for Captain Grey could oversee sickbay personally.

:: looks to Kuari, then back to Grey :: XO: Agreed. CTO: Head on down there and keep an eye on things.

CO: Captain, outside of the usual, is there anything I can do to help with this? Ship's in top-shape, ready for worst-case scenarios of all kinds. Transporter's well-oiled.

:: turns forward again, taking a moment to look at the planet on the viewer, ostensibly now at peace, for the moment, then speaks :: CSO: Begin the transports.

:: remembers the captain sometimes fumbles idioms etc. ::

CO: Figuratively, I mean.

CO: Aye, Captain.

+CMO+ Stand by for incoming transports.

:: blinks and turns to walk back toward her chair, confused at why Zoë made the distinction :: CEO: Why, does the transporter sometimes literally require oil?

:: energizes ::

:: prepares her tricorder wand, watching as a patient materializes in the biobed in front of her ::

:: smiles a little in amusement at Harper's question ::

:: nods and turns to exit the bridge, heading down to the medbay and slipping inside to take up position by the doors ::

CO: I, it... It's... Never mind, Captain. Is there any extra preparation you'd like me to do?

:: begins scanning the patient, glancing up at the nurse :: Nurse: 20ccs dermaline. :: she orders, then gets right to work on the patient's burns with a dermal regenerator ::

:: briefly glances up as two patients are quickly wheeled into surgery, two doctors following behind them. Her hands are busy, and she trusts her team to do this. ::

:: looks to Kuari, then back to D'bryn, first out of a momentary confusion before moving on :: CEO: Not at the moment, unless Commander Kuari has something. That said, I am certainly pleased to hear such a good status report.

:: perks an ear at Harper then glances down at the last engineering report on her console, then back up :: CEO: No, everything looks good. Nice, for once.

:: glances up at the scanner screen, relieved to find her patient's vitals stabilizing as she works on his burns :: Patient: Hang in there.

CO/XO: Aye-aye. :: to no one; generally out loud :: Times like these, I wish I'd double-dipped in specialties. Be nice if I knew my way around a medical tricorder or something.

:: when she's finished with most of the worst of it and what's left is superficial, she hands off the dermal regenerator to a nurse and heads into surgery to see how it's going ::

:: keeping an eye on the patients' vital signs, watching as the doctors do their work ::

CEO: I can teach you to fly a Mustang, if you are bored. :: grins ::

:: jumps in to help one of the junior doctors repair a patient’s ruptured blood vessels, demonstrating steady hands ::

:: chuckles from the helm ::

:: laughs :: CO: Oh, no, that's definitely not for me. I leave the flying to Ha—...more capable...people.

:: smiles, listening to the conversation, then peers down at her console again ::

:: finishes repairing the damage to a few of the patient’s organs and hands the surgery back off to the junior doctor to close up while she checks on the other surgical ward, having to clean and scrub herself again before going in ::

:: catches that, but makes no mention of it, and takes her seat :: CEO: Science is fun, and has some overlap with engineering, not that the age-old rivalry between scientists and engineers would admit it.

CO: I'm happy there's no such rivalry here. That I know of, anyway.

CEO: Yes, it's good-natured, anyway, about whose profession is simply an applied version of the other, all the way back to inventing the universe.

:: turns and looks at D'bryn with mock skepticism ::

:: watches as Doctor Straynj is closing on the second surgery, only stepping in to help when he invites her to :: Straynj: Of course, Doctor.

:: catches CSO's look :: CO: Well, I'm happy to lay the blame of the universe on the scientists. :: smirks ::

:: glances to Lexy, grinning slightly ::

CEO: Uh-huh. Sure. :: smirks and makes the "I've got my eyes on you" gesture at the CEO ::

CEO: Only an engineer could be so fussy about the precise values of the fundamental constants.

:: goes back through the scrub room and re-dons her signature CMO blue coat before heading back into sickbay to see how everyone’s doing ::

CO: Well yeah, that's our job.

CO: I got high marks in Fussiness.

:: nods appreciatively :: CEO: I can respect that.

:: looks up towards science :: Commander Wright, will you send the patient files for those we're treating to my console? I want to look them over, so that I can say for myself we are being fair and not partial to either side, if I'm asked ::

:: breaks her smirking look at D'bryn to look over at Kuari with a more serious expression :: XO: Of course, Commander. :: turns back to her console and does the thing ::

:: doesn’t report that everyone is stabilized in the interest of not jinxing things, but everyone’s vitals were stable due to skilled and quick care ::

ACTION> A bright white flash fills the main viewer. All systems, ship-wide, are suddenly and unpredictably affected by power surges, failures, fluctuations, and outages.

:: instantly moves her arm to shield her face from console sparks, a battle reflex ::

:: slams her eyes shut against the light, blinking them open and looking around in surprise ::

:: looks back toward the engineering console :: CEO: What was that?!

:: blinks :: I had to say I had nothing to do... :: scrambles at her station :: CO: We've got power fluctuations all over the ship! Deck 12 is showing outages... Deck 13 too...

:: is watching a scanner screen when it blinks on and off. She looks around, alarmed at the malfunctions ::

CO: I don't know, it just... Like someone flipped a switch from 'fine' to 'chaos'.

ACTION> The fluctuations and outages spread, eventually affecting most systems except those most heavily shielded, such as life support.

:: watches a scanner screen turn off and smacks the side of it, frustrated ::

:: looking at short-range scanners to see if she can determine the cause ::

:: looks annoyed at the bridge lights as they flicker ::

CO: We have major failures across several systems.

CO: Damn it, it's... Wait. Captain, whatever happened started on the lower decks and worked its way up.

:: checks the bridge feed and sees that the issues aren’t just local. She turns and shouts :: Sickbay: Keep working!

CEO: Emergency power to sickbay, if possible. We just got those patients aboard.

XO: Yellow alert!

:: looks alarmed, and completely puzzled as to what could cause the failures to start at the lower decks first. She initiates yellow alert ::

CO: Already diverting, Captain. Power distribution is in a flurry.

:: attention is snatched by the yellow alert, mind whirling ::

:: is glad that dermal regenerators work on battery as most of her patients were suffering from burns ::

:: D'bryn's mention of the lower decks gives her an idea :: CSO: Replay the flash on the main viewer, at 1/1000th speed.

:: grumbles :: Self: If the main viewer would stay powered...

CO: Every system I try to pull power from starts flickering out! Atlantis: Come on, lady, work with me, here.

:: looks at Kate, perplexed, but then turns back to her console and attempts to comply ::

CO: I'll get power to sickbay if I have to go down and duct-tape it there.

:: wonders momentarily what duct-tape is, but is distracted and doesn't give it too much thought ::

CEO: Whatever you have to do!

ACTION> The main viewer flickers, but does eventually replay the flash, which fills the screen from the bottom.

:: watches the main viewer carefully, as if their lives depend on it ::

CO: I've got some power getting to Sickbay, Captain. Trying to get everything else back up and running.

:: goes back into surgery to check on them. Unfortunately, the junior doctor Juarez was only part way through closing, and the was left with an incision while the surgical table was on the fritz :: Juarez: It’s okay, we can stitch him shut for now and regenerate it later. :: she goes digging through the cabinet for old fashioned stitches, somewhere in the veeeery back ::

:: fights the helm for attitude control, but can't get it, and the ship starts listing ::

:: looks up as the power comes back on, sighing with relief :: Juarez: Oh thank the stars. Close quickly now.

:: looks to Kuari :: XO: Something below us? Probably not from the planet, with those effects.

:: supervises to make sure this patient makes it out of surgery ::

:: looks back :: CO: Wright surely would see it on scans if it were there?

XO: Scanners could be failing.

:: looks up at the flickering lights, and shifting with the ship slightly, tapping her commbadge :: + Bridge: What's going on? The lights and power are on the damn haywire. +

+CTO+ The situation is shipwide, Captain Grey, we are working on determining a cause and a solution.

:: comes back out of surgery, this time helping roll the patient’s bed into the recovery ward ::

+CSO+ Acknowledged. Keep me updated?

:: is wrestling to restore power to helm control ::

:: growling quietly through gritted teeth :: Atlantis: Come the fuck on...

:: exasperated :: +CTO+ Hopefully you will be updated by things returning to normal.

CEO: Can you get us a good pulse on the short range scanners?

CO: I managed to get a text message through to the Savant, and they replied that they are experiencing no issues, Captain.

:: can't help but snicker at Wright's exasperation, responding :: +CSO+ 10-4. Grey out.

:: takes a dermal regenerator and helps with the next worst patient, ignoring the flickering lights as best she can ::

CO: Trying, Captain! :: gets a modicum of power to helm control, switches gears for scanners ::

CSO: Ask them to scan near us if you can get a message back through.

CO: Aye, Captain. :: taps out the message and sends it, hoping it goes through ::

:: pauses as a light goes out for several seconds, looking up and waiting for it to come back on so she doesn’t give her patient a crooked nose ::

:: uses that power to stablize their attitude :: CEO: Thanks, that helped.

:: is heartened knowing that her father is close, and that his ship is fine and can perhaps help them ::

CO: It's flimsy, but I have some power in the scanners again.

ACTION> A message comes back, indicating a tiny, powerless, 2-person shuttle drifting away from our keel.

:: looks down at the message and blinks for a moment before turning and relaying it to the CO and XO ::

CSO: Lifesigns?

:: looks on short-range scanners ::

:: finishes repairing her patient’s face, handing him a mirror. He pokes his face, visibly relieved ::

CO: Only one weak life sign. If we can get reliable power to the transporters, I can beam it in, or we can try to tractor it into a shuttle bay.

:: turns back toward Zoë :: CEO: Can you make either of those things possible?

CO: Transporters will be easier. :: taps away, trying to divert power to those systems ::

CEO: But if there's any power interruption...

:: nods in agreement with Kuari ::

:: looks around at the medical personnel, catching a few glancing at her as Sickbay is suspiciously quiet ::

XO: I'm confident I could power the transporters enough that it won't interrupt, but it's your call, Commander.

CEO: If you're confident, then do it.

:: nods in agreement with Kuari, trusting Zoë's judgement ::

XO: I spent all morning sprucing up the power conduits on the transporters; once I get em enough juice, it'll be a steady transfer.

:: watches the single life sign grow ever weaker ::

:: taps and swipes and taps and swipes ::

:: waits nervously ::

+CMO/CTO+ We've got a mystery patient coming in from a nearby shuttle. Take necessary precautions.

All: Alright, transferring power from nonessential replicator systems and stellar cartography, and... :: taptaptap :: Power's back on!

:: raises an eyebrow, then takes up position next to an empty biobed, next on the list to retrieve a transport :: +CSO+ Ready.

+CSO+ Acknowledged. :: turns from her position close to the door to walk over to Acacia's position, taking a position against the wall closest to the empty biobed ::

+CMO/CTO+ Initiating transport. Life signs critical.

:: energizes while the power is stable ::

:: waves a nurse over with a crash cart, watching the patient materialize with her tricorder at the ready ::

ACTION> A new patient arrives in sickbay, badly burnt.

:: finishes a quick scan and orders stabilizing meds from the nurse, immediately getting to work with a deep-tissue regenerator to start with ::

CSO: Keep tabs on their ship, too. I want to examine it when it is feasible.

:: glances up as doctor Juarez jumps in on the other side of the bed with a dermal regenerator. The two work in circles, repairing the damage bit by bit ::

CO: Aye, Captain. It's nearby.

ACTION> The new patient begins to wake up, and looks around, incredulous.

:: does another scan, the patient’s pain meds probably kicking in already :: Patient: Be still. You’re in a Sickbay aboard Atlantis. You were badly burned, but it’s getting better.

:: waits for the doctors in sickbay to do their thing, comforted at least that they're doing all they can, and hopes answers will come soon. At least internal comms are still working ::

Patient> :: laughs :: I never imagined... :: coughs :: That I would be rescued by my targets... :: cough cough cough, passes out ::

:: blinks, glancing at Grey for a reaction as she continues to work on the patient’s burns ::

:: barely gives a visible reaction, looking to Acacia cautiously :: CMO: Can you awaken her without pain? Or would you like me to wait to question her?

All: Power's slowly coming back under control, but it'll be a while until I get everything back up to a hundred percent.

CEO: Good work so far, Lieutenant.

:: shakes her head at that :: CTO: You can wait. You wanna report what she said, or should I?

All: Whatever happened, it was thorough.

:: nods approvingly towards D'bryn ::

:: nods :: CMO: What I figured. I'll report it. ::

:: looks from Zoë, to Kuari, then back to Zoë :: This would be consistent with an attack by EMP.

:: nods, thinking on Harper's words :: CO: You're right...it is.

:: nods :: CO: And an EMP would be used by a civilization at this level of technological advancement.

+CO/XO+ Update on the new patient, ma'ams... she woke briefly, then made a comment about being rescued by her targets before passing out once again.

+CTO+ Take her into custody as soon as medically allowable.

:: frowns ::

:: looks up :: CTO: You can cuff her, but I still need to finish her burns.

+CO+ Yes ma'am. Questioning will commence once medically permitted as well. Would you like to be alerted for the questioning?

+CTO+ Yes. This requires a certain level of decorum, given the situation.

CEO: Get us power to tractor that ship in as soon as you can.

:: nods, stepping forwards with cuffs removed from her belt, attaching the patient's wrists to the edges of the biobed before stepping backwards and responding :: +CO+ Acknowledged.

:: continues work on the patient-turned-prisoner’s burns, giving her the same care she would give anyone ::
