(21:20:55) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: reviewing the in-depth scans of the local environment ::
(21:21:17) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: :: has returned to the bridge from his ready room conversation with McKnight and Harper, and is looking over the list of demands, er, requests ::
(21:23:37) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: :: sends the list of SF Hardware over to Engineering, and the intel on the slaver over to Tac ::
(21:24:38) XO_Capt_TKirr: :: is in her normal off-center seat on the Bridge, reviewing the export reports of materials due to be shipped to the surface ::
(21:25:43) TAC_1LT_Randen: :: Manning the Tactical 2 Station on the Bridge. ::
(21:25:54) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: steps out of the Turbolift and to Tactical 1 and nods to Randen as he takes over for the 2LT at Tactical 1. He scans the surrounding area, and as expected, doesn't see anything that stands out as an immediate threat. ::
(21:26:29) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: on the bridge at her usual secondary science console, looking over the most recent system scans, looking for anything out of the ordinary. Perhaps a stray asteroid or something of the sort would be nice ::
(21:26:30) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: :: nods to the Major as he enters :: CTO: I've sent you the intel Venya gave us on the slaver operation.
(21:28:03) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: T'Lira, can you come here for a moment? I'd like to pick your brain about something.
(21:28:36) NAV_Capt_Harper: :: down in the assault bay, inspecting the new Mustang Mark IIs that they managed to procure before leaving Vinland ::
(21:28:54) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: wonders how humans can manage to use such odd phrases in daily life :: CSO: Of course, sir. :: stands and makes her way over to the primary sci/ops station ::
(21:29:58) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: I believe you weren't with us last time we were here, is that correct?
(21:30:37) SCI_Lt_TLira: CSO: You would be correct, yes. Although it does certainly seem like an... enlightening place.
(21:31:01) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: acknowledges Blackthorne :: CO: Very good, sir. :: pulls up the brief on his console - he's old-fashioned that way - and reads quickly but thoroughly.
(21:31:52) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: Refuge is definitely interesting. But of scientific interest is this: On our last visit, Refuge was experiencing unsustainable seismic disturbances. We were able to correct it by bringing the gravitational stresses into equilibrium.
(21:32:51) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: However, the seismic problems have begun to recur. Thus, the problem facing us is two-fold: First, determine the cause of the current problem. Second, determine how to prevent or delay recurrence.
(21:33:17) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: I believe you have advanced training in gravitational mechanics, is that correct?
(21:35:11) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: ::Steps off the TL onto the bridge and plods his way back to his ENG console.::
(21:35:28) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: is not exactly pleased at the mention of anything seismic at the moment :: CSO: I do. Is it possible that addressing the gravitational stresses previously was the measure required to delay further instability? And that this is indeed the expected recurrence?
(21:35:51) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: ENG: Lieutenant, you'll find some information I've forward along. It seems Refuge has some ill-gotten Starfleet hardware that they need assistance in making repairs to.
(21:39:30) XO_Capt_TKirr: :: perks a pointed ear towards Wright and T'Lira's conversation, naturally drawn by scientific curiosity, still perusing reports from her seat ::
(21:39:39) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: ::Takes a look at the file.:: CO: You say ill-gotten... I remember the days when you couldn't shift Starfleet technology, because it was so freely given away.
(21:40:13) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: My apologies... the information I provided was incomplete. The dwarf planet that Refuge sits on is not internally seismically active... the quakes are due to the gravitational stresses of the asteroids and moonlets that it pulls in.
(21:40:32) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: ENG: Take a look. It's some fairly recent stuff, much newer than I thought was getting away.
(21:41:46) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: Therefore, they're likely recurring due to new additions to the ring system.
(21:41:50) TAC_1LT_Randen: :: Leans in towards the Major and whispers. :: CTO: Do we get to kick some slaver's hides or something?
(21:42:08) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: lifts an eyebrow :: CSO: Is there a way to reduce the current number of extraneous bodies in the rings?
(21:42:39) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: pulls up from watching his console :: TAC: I sure hope so. :: lips turn into a slight curl of what could be a smile.
(21:43:41) NAV_Capt_Harper: :: hops in one of the new planes and powers it up, checking the systems ::
(21:44:07) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: Adjusting the rings is what we did last time, but as the dwarf planet is dominant in the neighborhood, it's likely going to continue to accumulate additional bodies until it either clears the orbit or is ripped apart by gravitational stress.
(21:44:18) TAC_1LT_Randen: CTO: Me too. :: Gives the Major a knowing nod as kicking the tar out of those deserving of it sounded like fun. ::
(21:44:44) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: I'm wondering if perhaps the installation of adjustable gravitic stabilizers might be a more viable long-term solution.
(21:44:57) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: Though I'm not sure if such a thing has ever been done.
(21:45:22) SCI_Lt_TLira: CSO: Perhaps so... and I am not aware if it has been accomplished, but I believe the saying goes that there is a first time for everything.
(21:45:34) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: ::Hums to himself as he goes through the list.:: CO: Do we have a list of the systems these directly connect to. Systems are easily built around Starfleet technolgy, but it does not always readily integrate to an existing system.
(21:46:33) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: I'd like to split this task with you... one reviewing the current and projected grav map, the other looking into gravitic stabilizers. What do you think? Or do you have other suggestions?
(21:47:12) SCI_Lt_TLira: CSO: As of now, I have no other suggestions. I will look into this further, perhaps there is an alternative that is not seen at the moment.
(21:47:17) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: ENG: She included descriptions of what they were using them for, perhaps the connection can be inferred from that. :: swipes it over to Engineering from his PADD ::
(21:48:05) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: ::Chuckles.:: CO: And I'm sure it's things the equipment isn't meant for.
(21:48:34) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: Ah, excellent. Okay, I'll assign you to investigating alternative solutions for now. I'll look into the stabilizers, and the lab team can play with the grav maps, they love that sort of thing.
(21:48:56) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: ENG: Naturally. Come up with a repair time and material estimate for this and let me know.
(21:49:24) SCI_Lt_TLira: CSO: I am certain they do. I will start searching for alternatives now. Perhaps it may be a combination effort of several options that provides the answer.
(21:49:47) NAV_Capt_Harper: :: nods, satisfied with some of the improvements that made it in from feedback she and some of the other pilots had offered ::
(21:49:59) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: Thank you, T'Lira. I'm sending the detailed scan data to your console now.
(21:50:21) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: nods and returns to her console, setting herself to focusing solely on her work and not the reason for the work ::
(21:50:41) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: CO: As long as they haven't attempted to wire the matter decoupler from a replicator to a tranporter pad... I'm sure these repairs will be completed in no time.
(21:51:13) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: knows this is a difficult subject for T'Lira, but hopes she's doing the right thing in assuming that T'Lira would prefer to be treated purely as a professional ::
(21:52:23) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: ENG: Splendid. Whenever you're ready we can send you down, with escort.
(21:52:55) NAV_Capt_Harper: ::: powers the fighter down, and notes it as she climbs down, since she's thinking of claiming it :
(21:53:08) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: begins working on plans for the slaver operation operation, sending some info to Randen, curious to see what he does with it. ::
(21:54:34) NAV_Capt_Harper: :: pauses and regards the Mustang, trying to think of what to name her ::
(21:55:59) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: CO: I suppose it would be pointless to note that I would be equally as comfortable without one?
(21:56:14) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: ENG: Mm, probably, but noted.
(21:57:29) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: ::Stands up.:: CO: I can begin repairs right away, Admiral.
(21:57:35) XO_Capt_TKirr: :: uploads the document to her PADD and stands, approaching Blackthorne and offering it to him :: CO: The materials Mr. Quinn is offering are to be divided between two shuttles, as listed here. One trip should do it. :: turns her head to regard Ilaihr briefly :: CO: There is room in one for passengers. Shall I have it stand by?
(21:58:27) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: :: takes the PADD, looks it over, and signs off :: XO: Very well, and if Lt. Ilaihr is ready to begin, then yes.
(21:58:54) XO_Capt_TKirr: :: looks to Ilaihr calmly ::
(21:59:01) NAV_Capt_Harper: :: can't think of one right now, so she exits to the TL :: Bridge.
(22:00:10) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: ::Looks to Captain Tkirr, giving a very Vulcan nod.::
(22:00:40) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: And as for that escort.... CTO: Major, can you spare Lt. Randen to accompany Lt. Ilaihr?
(22:01:17) XO_Capt_TKirr: :: nods back respectfully to Ilaihr :: ENG: Report to Shuttlebay Two when you're ready.
(22:01:45) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: ::Is already busting a move for the TL. Adamant that he doesn't need an escort.::
(22:02:18) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: CO: Yes, sir. :: looks to Randen :: TAC: Lieutenant.
(22:05:35) NAV_Capt_Harper: :: arrives on the bridge and makes for her station :: CO/XO: Sirs. :: nods in greeting ::
(22:05:58) XO_Capt_TKirr: :: watches Ilaihr and eyebrows Blackthorne ::
(22:06:07) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: notes Kate and gives her a small smile ::
(22:06:14) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: TAC: Come now Mister Randen. ::Shouts out of the TL.:: Some of us dont have many centuries left to live!
(22:06:27) SEC_1Lt_Kuari: :: trots on all fours towards the Forward Lounge, eager to take a break before she is potentially needed on their next mission ::
(22:06:46) NAV_Capt_Harper: :: looks to her side as she sits and returns the smile before unlocking the helm ::
(22:08:23) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: :: chuckles at the eyebrow before handing the PADD back to T'Kirr ::
(22:10:06) TAC_1LT_Randen: :: Nods :: CTO: Major. :: He logs off his console and follows Lt. Ilaihr as ordered. Rolls his eyes at the shout as he approaches the TL and then enters it. ::
(22:10:31) NAV_Capt_Harper: :: finds all the readings to be nominal and is satisfied with the state of their orbital parameters ::
(22:10:59) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: TL: Shuttlebay 2, Computer.
(22:11:50) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: is coming up empty on gravitic stabilizers on that scale... considers other options ::
(22:12:00) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: looks up to see Lt. Boor replacing Randen. Gad, he hates Boor. Wolfe buries himself in his console and his duties ::
(22:12:37) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: CTO: Major, would you happen to have a preliminary analysis of the slaver's capability?
(22:12:50) XO_Capt_TKirr: :: takes the PADD and strolls a short distance away, tapping her badge and asking Shuttlebay Two to hold its departure for the Engineering crew, particularly Ilaihr's clearance ::
(22:14:33) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: ::The TL comes to a halt, and the doors open. Ilaihr passes through, the moment the doors slide open.:: TAC: Come now, dear boy. Keep up. We have much to do. ::Smiles to himself.::
(22:15:01) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: finishes his thought and looks up :: CO: Aye, sir. The slavers are nearby, and they have decent numbers. They'd be quite irksome were we a band of traders, but for Atlantis, with our level of armament, they should not pose much trouble.
(22:15:31) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: looks into any previous Starfleet records on this type of gravitic instability to see if another ship used a different technique to solve their problem ::
(22:16:10) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: perhaps some kind of tidal dampening... ::
(22:17:32) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: :: glad that they're not as bad as Renzik, the first slaver they had to deal with :: CTO: Glad to hear it. Get me a full on assault plan as soon as you can.
(22:18:51) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: CO: Working on that now, sir.
(22:20:01) NAV_Capt_Harper: CO: While our numbers are still depleted, we were able to get some new Mustang Mark IIs and have a few new pilots as well, Admiral. :: forwards him the state of the Wing :: We are available for the operation.
(22:21:01) TAC_1LT_Randen: :: Mutters. :: Off to babysitting I go... :: Follows Ilaihr a few feet behind to the shuttle bay. His hand checking his phaser on the way. Making sure it's ready to use at a moment's notice. :: ENG: Right behind you.
(22:21:06) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: NAV: Glad to hear it. CTO: Incorporate the Sharks if needed, but be aware of their diminished numbers.
(22:21:55) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: ::Sighs, as a he stares down the corridor at a silent, in tow, Randen.:: TAC: Is it the tactical uniform that makes you all functionally mute? Or is the silent brooding a personality trait that is encouraged by Starfleet Security, I wonder.
(22:24:40) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: NAV: How do those Mark IIs look anyway? :: curious to know whether they improved upon or ruined his original design ::
(22:26:22) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: CO: I'll put them on standby, but my guess is they won't be necessary.
(22:26:32) NAV_Capt_Harper: :: turns back toward the center seat and excitedly answers :: CO: Quite good, sir! They have improved on several things that we noted in our feedback, and delivered more capability in all areas.
(22:27:27) TAC_1LT_Randen: ENG: Silence is a good practice so any nearby enemies won't hear you coming.
(22:27:36) NAV_Capt_Harper: CO: The only thing is that we do not have enough to completely transition over to only flying Mark IIs.
(22:28:52) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: NAV: I'll see about getting us a few more, at least.
(22:29:55) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: ::Watches the young man's hand wave over his holstered weapon. Can't help but smile, as he is reminded of a thousand times personal protection was forced upon him. Be it by two Breen, a squadron of Xindi, a very angry Tholian or even a pack of hungry Targs. It never got old.::
(22:29:56) NAV_Capt_Harper: CO: Thank you sir. :: turns back forward, wondering how he'll manage that while detached from the fleet ::
(22:29:59) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: looking further into tidal flexion and alternative applications, having tuned out the chatter on the Bridge ::
(22:30:37) SEC_1Lt_Kuari: :: enters the lounge and hops deftly up onto a barstool, perching her generous size precariously at first glance but is actually quite comfortable, wrapping her tail around the stool's leg :: Bartender: Chocolate waru milk, please!
(22:32:25) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: CTO: Now now, Major, never turn down air support.
(22:32:56) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: CO: Didn't say I was turning it down. They'll be on standby in case we need them.
(22:33:07) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: TAC: I have always find it better to not let your enemy know that you're their enemy.
(22:33:15) XO_Capt_TKirr: :: makes her way back to her seat, turning her attention to her console ::
(22:34:39) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: TAC: It makes the trouble of their sudden disappearance much easier to cover up... ::Enters the back of the open shuttlecraft, and takes a seat.::
(22:35:03) NAV_Capt_Harper: :: smirks, Marines amiright :: CTO: I have a drink in the bar that says you will.
(22:35:58) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: :: is obviously biased on the side of the piots here ::
(22:36:41) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: looks Harper dead in the eye. :: NAV: There's a reason I'll have them on standby. I just don't think we'll need them. We'll see. Sir.
(22:37:05) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: TAC: Also, if I wanted silence, I would have taken a job with the Xindi-Aquatic.
(22:37:19) NAV_Capt_Harper: :: was totally right :: CTO: As you say, Major, as you say. :: turns back forward ::
(22:37:55) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: TAC: Well renowned are they for the level of silence they achieve, simply between words.
(22:40:53) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: :: chuckles at the eternal ground vs. air rivalry ::
(22:40:58) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: TAC: Even during a particular negotiation for water filtration systems. They were stalwart in their patient indecision, even in the face of the growing toxicity of the water they inhabited.
(22:41:33) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: bores a hole in the back of Harpers head with his eyes for a moment before getting back to strategy... including both without and with the sharks. ::
(22:41:49) SEC_1Lt_Kuari: :: scoots her chocolate milk closer and picks out the straw, then tilts it to her pointed lips with both hands, being very still so as to not spill. She could just dump it into her grapefruit-sized oral cavity, but then she wouldn't enjoy it as much ::
(22:41:51) NAV_Capt_Harper: :: oblivious ::
(22:42:04) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: getting excited, starts to work up tidal dampening models in conjunction with the grav maps ::
(22:42:22) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: :: senses excitement ::CSO: Commander Wright, how goes our seismic issue?
(22:44:50) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: doesn't register her name right away, but finally looks up :: CO: Well, Sir, I don't have anything solid yet, but I think I might be able to adapt tidal flexion dampening fields to give Refuge an autonomous method to adapt to their changing gravitic situation. I'm running simulations now.
(22:45:09) CO_VAdmBlackthorne: CSO: Brilliant, if it works.
(22:45:56) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: smiles and faintly blushes at the Admiral :: CO: I'll advise once I have adequate simulation results.
(22:46:07) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: ::Is suddenly smoking his pipe, yet continuing to talk at Randen... has manage to tangent himself straight into a different language.::
(22:46:58) TAC_1LT_Randen: ENG: There are cases when it's obvious to your enemy that they are your enemy. In the field if you're approaching their strong hold, you want the element of surprise. Or you're just running recon and don't want to be discovered.
(22:48:40) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: TAC: @$+¥% €®™}{## @$&#=/..... ::Smiles at the young tactical officer, shaking his head.::
(22:50:49) ENG_Lt_Ilaihr: ::Is oblivious to the fact Randen couldn't have possibly understood what he just said.::
