(21:25:57) SEC_1Lt_Kuari: :: struts around Security, sporting her new pip, now wearing something to put it on ::
(21:26:04) CO_Capt_Harper: :: exits the ready room onto the bridge, having read all the reports submitted since she recalled the crew ::
(21:26:17) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: is making the rounds, checking on his marines stationed around the ship. He trusts every one of them implicitly, but would never tell them that. ::
(21:26:41) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: on the Bridge, having been dealing with directing the planet scans until Harper could return ::
(21:27:12) CO_Capt_Harper: XO: Anything new, Commander?
(21:28:00) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: reviewing the seismic scans of the planet, concerned that there was something she missed in the initial data ::
(21:28:16) TAC_2LT_Randen: :: Mans the Tactical console on the bridge as Wolfe makes his rounds around the ship. ::
(21:28:35) XO_Cdr_Vallero: CO: Not at this point. We of course centered our search in the area the collapse happened, and we're looking for similar structural issues further out to see if it's a local or global issue.
(21:29:54) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Exits the TL onto the bridge, a sombre look on his face, as he slowly trots to the ENG station.::
(21:30:23) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: stands looking at Harper, his hands clasped behind his back and for a moment looking a lot like T'Kirr, but he then relaxes out of it and the moment is gone ::
(21:31:18) CO_Capt_Harper: XO: Alright. Focus on this from the perspective of... :: sighs :: suitability for future colonization. We need to know whether or not this planet is stable.
(21:31:46) XO_Cdr_Vallero: CO: :: nods :: Understood, ma'am.
(21:32:05) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: resists the unprofessional urge to scrub her fingers through her hair in frustration, finding nothing new in the data ::
(21:34:01) CO_Capt_Harper: XO: It seems harsh, but those are our orders after the official report was filed.
(21:34:56) XO_Cdr_Vallero: CO: Big picture, right? :: smirks unenthusiastically ::
(21:35:38) CO_Capt_Harper: XO: Indeed. Odd though, that those are our only orders. We have no assignment.
(21:38:03) XO_Cdr_Vallero: CO: :: frowns :: Maybe a colonization project out this way is top priority and they don't feel the need to share?
(21:39:50) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: looks through the data again as her latest scans start to come in ::
(21:39:54) CO_Capt_Harper: XO: It is as good a guess as any at this point. :: sits in her chair :: I suppose the Admiral gave us assignments to make up for times like this.
(21:41:43) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: takes Harper's sitting as invitation to do so as well and checks his small console ::
(21:45:32) CSO_LCdr_Wright: CO/XO: All of the data indicates that the tectonic activity is reasonably stable, within normal parameters for an M-class planet of this size and age. Suitable for habitation, but occasional seismic events are possible. The timing of the event experienced by our officers was simply... unfortunate.
(21:49:05) CO_Capt_Harper: CSO: Thank you, Commander. :: sighs, not sure whether that makes this better or worse :: Include your recommendations for choice settlement sites in the survey of this world.
(21:49:40) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Sighs. Cosmic coincidences with tragic outcomes, truly the saddest of times.::
(21:52:36) CSO_LCdr_Wright: CO: Do you want best guesses, or shall I select a short list of candidates and dispatch teams for surveying and soil samples for crop yield projections?
(21:53:40) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Checks the manifest and database for seismic stabalisers should they need them.::
(21:54:02) CO_Capt_Harper: CSO: It would seem we have time to be thorough.
(21:55:14) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: steps into the Armory where Kuari is quite obviously proud of her new bar. He stops with the doors at his back and just watches. ::
(21:55:22) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: listens between CO and CSO ::
(21:56:56) CSO_LCdr_Wright: CO: Aye, Captain. I'll begin an in-depth climate analysis to determine optimal locations immediately. :: pulls up the data from the ice cores she brought back that her team is analyzing in the lab ::
(21:57:39) CO_Capt_Harper: :: gets up and walks up to the Ops station to peer at the data ::
(21:58:20) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: notices Kate behind her and leans to the side to give her a better view :: CO: This is the data from the ice cores I took. Should give us some insight.
(21:59:04) CO_Capt_Harper: CSO: Climatological trends through the planet's history?
(22:00:00) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: nods :: CO: Any major global problems would show up here.
(22:00:31) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: watches Harper get up and leave and concentrates instead on his console ::
(22:01:19) CO_Capt_Harper: :: nods :: CSO: Glad we got them then.
(22:02:41) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: CO: Captain. Do Starfleet have a particular layout they want the first structures built in?
(22:03:05) CSO_LCdr_Wright: CO: I guess the cold was worth it, then. :: small smile ::
(22:04:05) CO_Capt_Harper: CSO: It certainly was. :: returns the smile, then turns to the Engineering console :: ENG: I am sure they do, why?
(22:05:46) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: CO: Just to make sure what ever preliminary work is needed, should it pass colonisation standards.
(22:06:03) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: looks at atmospheric composition data stretching through the millenia, recorded in ice ::
(22:07:27) CO_Capt_Harper: ENG: The colony builders will handle that. We are to assess and report.
(22:07:35) SEC_1Lt_Kuari: SEC: Hey Brolson, did you see? :: stops behind the security crewman and points to her collar ::
(22:08:56) SEC_1Lt_Kuari: Brolson> :: turns to Kuari and smiles :: Yes, I did hear that.
(22:10:38) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Nods.:: CO: Understood. It's an almost envious job, building a colony; a home for future generations. ::Smiles at the romantic notion.::
(22:11:37) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: finding nothing out of the ordinary in the ice core samples, starts extrapolating weather patterns from available meteorological data ::
(22:12:23) CO_Capt_Harper: ENG: Yes, quite. A shame this one had to start with tragedy. :: has already presided over way too many funerals during her short tenure as CO ::
(22:13:25) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: also kicks off a scan for comets, asteriods, and other objects of concern in the system to calculate the risk of catastrophic collision ::
(22:14:37) CSO_LCdr_Wright: *CTO* Wright to Wolfe.
(22:15:43) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: *CSO* Wolfe here.
(22:16:08) SEC_1Lt_Kuari: :: is alerted to Wolfe's comm and notices he's there ::
(22:16:44) CSO_LCdr_Wright: *CTO* I'll be dispatching four Science teams planetside in a few hours, any chance of Security details for them in case of hostile wildlife?
(22:16:52) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Ponders the thought, how often colonisation and tragedy can be stated in the same context.:: CO: Indeed. ::Nods again, smiling gently still to hide the sadness he felt, before turning back to his console.::
(22:17:19) CO_Capt_Harper: :: wanders over to the tactical console where Randen stands ::
(22:18:45) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: *CSO* I'll make it happen. :: cuts the comm and looks at the marines before him :: Kuari/Brolson: Take a break and get prepared. You're both going planetside with security teams. *TAC* Wolfe to Randen.
(22:20:25) SEC_1Lt_Kuari: :: brightens and trots off ::
(22:22:21) CO_Capt_Harper: :: eyes the lieutenant as his comm goes off, waits ::
(22:22:38) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: also calls down to the lab and orders four surveying teams to be ready to go planetside at the appointed time for standard colony site evaluation - soil quality, water access, raw material access, off flood plain, etc ::
(22:23:29) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: then gets back to work so she'll actually have a list of sites to be evaluated by then ::
(22:27:59) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: drops the measurements for axial tilt, topographical features, and lunar and orbital motion into her atmospheric model to simulate global meteorological patterns in different seasons ::
(22:28:56) TAC_2LT_Randen: *CTO* Randen here, go ahead.
(22:29:24) CO_Capt_Harper: :: starts punching up data on the tactical display, overlaying megafauna data from science with topographical features, while waiting on Randen's comm ::
(22:30:07) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: *TAC* Lieutenant. I need you to prep for an away mission. You're going back to the planet.
(22:30:51) TAC_2LT_Randen: *CTO* Aye Sir. And my objective?
(22:33:55) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: *CTO* You'll be commanding one of the the away mission protection details.
(22:34:48) SEC_1Lt_Kuari: :: as she puts on her specialized gear, wonders if Brolson would have been picked to go on the away mission if she hadn't been standing next to him ::
(22:35:34) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: still standing with his back almost against the door, turns and heads to the Bridge. ::
(22:37:21) TAC_2LT_Randen: *CTO* Yes Sir. :: Heads to the TL to go to the Armory and then the TR. ::
(22:39:29) CO_Capt_Harper: :: blinks as Randen leaves ::
(22:41:31) CO_Capt_Harper: :: keeps the recently-vacated tactical console for her own uses, then, playing with the data ::
(22:43:28) SEC_1Lt_Kuari: :: makes her way to the TL with Brolson, armored and prepared to go ::
(22:44:28) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: TAC_2LT_Smort'Va> :: takes over Tactical ::
(22:46:08) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: definitely told Wolfe the teams would be dispatched in a few hours, wondering if there's some other away mission happening sooner ::
(22:46:58) CO_Capt_Harper: :: vacates the station, finally moving back to the center seat :: XO: Since we have no assignment, I am seeing no reason that shore leave can not be reinstated. Do you concur?
(22:48:08) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: sighs to himself, in thought :: CO: I concur.
(22:48:58) TAC_2LT_Randen: :: Reaches the Armory and straps on some Tactical Gear and arms himself with a phaser rifle and a type 2 phaser as back up. Remembering what his Drill Sergeant always said, "Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst." ::
(22:49:19) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: internally groans... great, now she has to explain to the unlucky Science teams that everyone else gets shore leave but they don't ::
(22:50:01) CO_Capt_Harper: XO: Barring nothing from SFHQ in the meantime, we will reinstate leave tomorrow, then.
(22:50:53) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: also wonders if it would be weird to visit T'Lira, sends a note to sickbay to determine visitation viability ::
