(21:20:07) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: stands on the Bridge, looking XO-ey ::
(21:20:41) CO_Capt_Harper: :: is still in the ready room, as things are still quiet with no sign of the Mercutio ::
(21:21:16) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: is at Tactical, being Tactical-ey. ::
(21:21:35) CO_Capt_Harper: +Min, Zh'dani+ Lieutenant Zh'dani and Ensign Min, report to the ready room.
(21:21:45) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: is passing the time by using scanners to scout for optimal mining sites ::
(21:22:44) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Is at an ENG console, acting very Ferengi, making tallies of how valuable that dilithium may be.::
(21:22:53) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: is running continuing scans of the area, getting a metaphorical "lay of the land", in a stellar cartographic sense of the term ::
(21:23:57) XO_Cdr_Vallero: Ash> :: looks up from whatever she's doing in surprise, hearing Harper's voice summoning her :: +CO+ On my way.
(21:24:19) TAC_2LT_Randen: :: Manning a secondary console at the back of the bridge. Trying to do what he can for the weapons systems. ::
(21:27:31) LtJG_Chaka: :: Looks up quizzically at the comm panel like it just cast aspersions at his mother. :: Lieutenant zh'dani?
(21:27:52) NAV_2Lt_Suzuki: :: doop doop orbit ::
(21:29:14) LtJG_Chaka: :: Tosses aside his padd and rises from his bunk with a stretch. :: What the hell. Let's see what all the fuss is about.
(21:29:24) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Eye's roll, like a slot machine, with latinum glowing in them. The value of that planet is high.::
(21:30:07) XO_Cdr_Vallero: Ash> :: appears on the Bridge, feeling out of place and walks purposefully for the RR door ::
(21:31:20) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: looks up dilithium mining procedures, concerned at the surface conditions for personnel ::
(21:32:00) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: these scans still show that the only interesting thing around them was a comet passing by about a lightyear away. ::
(21:32:16) LtJG_Chaka: :: Strides off the turbolift a minute later, and glances over at the helm with a shake of his head. Qualified or not, he'd hate to imagine getting saddles with this armored schoolbus of a ship. With a silent wave to all present, he makes his way to the ready room door and rings the chime. ::
(21:32:40) CO_Capt_Harper: Door: Come in!
(21:33:19) XO_Cdr_Vallero: Ash> :: walks into RR with Chaka after a shared, confused look with him ::
(21:33:29) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Rubs his eyes, and snaps himself out of it.:: Self: You left the trade business for a reason...
(21:33:30) NAV_2Lt_Suzuki: :: nods back at Chaka ::
(21:34:12) CO_Capt_Harper: :: stands as they enter and smiles :: RR: Chaka, Spitfire, thank you for coming.
(21:34:22) TAC_2LT_Randen: :: Joins Wolfe at Tactical. :: CTO: The weapon's computer is on the fritz. We'll have to work Tactical manually, Sir.
(21:34:24) LtJG_Chaka: :: Waits until the door swishes closed behind him, the epitome of tact. :: CO: So what's with this "Lieutenant zh'dani" shit?
(21:34:29) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: really is just trying to keep her mind awake and occupied ::
(21:34:29) LtJG_Chaka: CO: ...Ma'am?
(21:35:19) CO_Capt_Harper: :: laughs and shrugs ::
(21:36:15) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: brings his head up from where he was looking at the console :: TAC: So it is. There being a good chance of a fight, I would like to keep you here. I'll aim, you'll fire the calculations I send you. If needed, keep your eyes on inventory, and keep me updated.
(21:36:45) CO_Capt_Harper: :: walks around the desk :: RR: The task of rebuiding the Sharks still remains, and I will be overseeing it even though I can not fly with you.
(21:37:00) CO_Capt_Harper: RR: So I will need to rely heavily on my veteran pilots, like you two.
(21:37:02) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: Anything noteworthy out there?
(21:37:42) SCI_Lt_TLira: CSO: Unless errant comets are now considered noteworthy, no, there is nothing at all.
(21:39:09) XO_Cdr_Vallero: Ash> :: chews on her lip as she listens and looks at Chaka ::
(21:39:17) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: giggles at that ::
(21:39:25) LtJG_Chaka: :: Returns the shrug. :: CO: It's luck as much as anything else that we're standing here instead of the rest. We all know that. But I'll happily do my best to keep that up, Firefly.
(21:39:29) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: the eyebrow goes up ::
(21:40:27) CO_Capt_Harper: RR: Well, perhaps you both can do a little more. :: smiles and grabs The Box from the top of the desk :: I hereby raise you both in rank. Congratulations LtJG Min and Lt. Chaka. :: produces pips and pins each of them :::
(21:40:35) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Walks over to the replicator to procure a tea, as he continues to tally the planet. Up to atleast 10,000 bricks now.::
(21:40:38) TAC_2LT_Randen: CTO: Yes, Major. :: Checks the current ammo inventory on the tactical console. :: CTO: We have a full complement of torpedos Sir.
(21:41:19) XO_Cdr_Vallero: Ash> :: was about to cross her arms, but lets them fall in surprise as she's pinned :: CO: It's...an honor, Captain.
(21:41:47) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: CSO: Commander, what kind of purity are we seeing in the dilithium?
(21:41:51) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: Oh, I was just imagining what noteworthy errant comets would be like... like maybe they have powdered wigs or emit Klingon opera at loud volume, or... uh... I guess it wasn't that funny.
(21:42:30) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: looks very tired ::
(21:43:02) LtJG_Chaka: CO: ...huh. Okay, let's hear the catch.
(21:43:49) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: the eyebrow goes a teensy bit higher, if that's even possible :: CSO: I do not know if comets are capable of producing Klingon opera, however, wigs are simply a matter of being attached by someone capable of catching up with them and then landing on one.
(21:43:49) CO_Capt_Harper: Chaka: No catch. Except that I will miss being out there with you. Oh, and that you are going to act as Wing XO for now.
(21:43:53) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Frowns.:: CSO: Would you care for a drink whilst I'm here?
(21:43:54) CSO_LCdr_Wright: ENG: The majority of it appears to be standard or high grade, depending on extraction.
(21:44:22) LtJG_Chaka: CO: I mean, let me back up to before I was an ingrate creep. Thanks. A lot. But I'm guessing next is when I hear what comes with this.
(21:45:12) CSO_LCdr_Wright: SCI: Oh, I know, it was just amusing to imagine something so silly. Ignore that, it's nothing.
(21:45:28) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: TAC: We'd better. Otherwise, someone's been playing, and I'll have their head.
(21:45:47) CO_Capt_Harper: :: sits on the edge of the desk :: Chaka: As Acting Wing XO, I will need you to take more of a leadership role. Simple as that.
(21:45:58) TAC_2LT_Randen: :: Nods. ::
(21:45:58) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: the other eyebrow goes up to join the first and she turns back to the scans of the rather unimpressive space around them ::
(21:47:08) LtJG_Chaka: CO: Do I have to stay sober at the poker games now?
(21:47:20) CSO_LCdr_Wright: ENG: Oh, are you heading to a replicator? If so, I'd love a berry energy smoothie, if it's no trouble. Or I guess coffee is good if you're just getting coffee.
(21:47:45) CO_Capt_Harper: :: smirks :: Chaka: Hell no. Not if you have any hope of continuing to beat me, at least.
(21:48:39) LtJG_Chaka: CO: Okay, then.
(21:48:47) LtJG_Chaka: :: Does an overdone salute. ::
(21:48:58) CO_Capt_Harper: :: smiles :: RR: Any more questions from either of you?
(21:49:47) NAV_2Lt_Suzuki: :: listening to the CSO, who doesn't appear to be aware that she is rambling, with an almost imperceptible shake of her head ::
(21:49:47) LtJG_Chaka: CO: Yeah. These new pips would shine that much brighter is Star Fleet actually sent us a proper complement of new planes. Any word on that?
(21:50:49) CO_Capt_Harper: Chaka: I have raised a bit of a fuss over it. They are building them as fast as they can, or so they tell me. The Admiral could not even manage to make much headway, but I will keep trying.
(21:51:08) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Returns from the replicator with a berry energy smoothie, and his cup of tea.:: CSO: I have made some calculations, and I believe a conservative value in a currency based system, the planet is worth somewhere between 670,000 and 1.36 million bars of gold latinum; assuming standard isotope and purity distribution.
(21:52:23) XO_Cdr_Vallero: Ash> :: doesn't have much to say, and only scratches the back of her head as the two talk ::
(21:52:25) LtJG_Chaka: CO: Well, if it'll speed things along, we can figure out how to make due with less than bleeding edge. We learned firsthand those old Peregrines still have some life in them, if you have the right mechanic on them.
(21:52:53) LtJG_Chaka: CO: Maybe put in a call to those mercs? I bet they could cut us a good deal on a few.
(21:53:46) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: looks surprised, then remembers, and accepts the smoothie with gratitude :: ENG: Wow, that's a lot of latinum. Huh. :: sips :: Might be difficult to get at, though. Surface conditions are suboptimal and the terrain is fairly rugged.
(21:53:47) CO_Capt_Harper: Chaka: You mean Gerard's people? Yes, that could work. I will see what I can do.
(21:54:37) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Smirks.:: CSO: It can be done.
(21:56:25) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: CSO: The Tellarites should have something for this. They have fine mining technology.
(21:57:05) CSO_LCdr_Wright: ENG: I'm sure with that much money at stake, it'll be worth the effort to someone.
(21:57:07) CO_Capt_Harper: Chaka: I doubt I have the influence the Admiral did with him, but that healthy rivalry we had with their pilots could help. Anything else?
(21:57:39) LtJG_Chaka: CO: Well, in the meantime, maybe we could grab a couple of the zippier little shuttles? With a little help from engineering installing something that looks like a real cockpit, they'd at least be good for training.
(21:57:53) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::He finally laughed at her shock.:: CSO: And you are very correct. It is alot of latinum. You could buy a small moon with that, and have enough left over for a orbital defense system.
(21:58:10) CO_Capt_Harper: Chaka: That one I will have to more carefully consider. I think they would be completely outmatched.
(22:01:26) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: sits up suddenly, wide awake, ignoring everything besides the alert that just came up on her console ::
(22:03:13) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: confirms :: XO: Commander... I'm picking up a distress signal. :: dramatic pause :: From the surface.
(22:04:24) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: swivels in surprise, looking at Wright :: CSO: Audio?
(22:04:26) NAV_2Lt_Suzuki: :: looks over with subdued interest... maintaining orbit is not very exciting, but THIS is. ::
(22:04:27) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: turns at that, gazing at Wright, before turning back and punching up a scan of the planet, trying to ascertain how a signal could be possible and why it hadn't been detected before now ::
(22:05:18) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::'Rushes' back to his console, setting up a scan for a ship or facility.::
(22:05:31) LtJG_Chaka: CO: Not talking about sending them into real battle unless we're all kinds of desperate. But if actual planes are even harder to replace than the pilots for them, it wouldn't suck to have something on hand that at least handles like one. Training in the holodeck just isn't the same after a point.
(22:05:38) CSO_LCdr_Wright: XO: Just a signal. I've pinpointed it to this equatorial region. :: highlights it on the on-screen display ::
(22:06:05) CO_Capt_Harper: Chaka: Yes, I know, the holodeck just does not do it justice. I will see what we can do.
(22:06:30) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: looks back to the main viewer and squints at it :: CSO: Interesting. Localized scans.
(22:07:10) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: elbows Randen sharply to make sure he's ready ::
(22:07:12) XO_Cdr_Vallero: +CO+ Captain to the Bridge. You'll want to come out here if you're not terribly busy.
(22:07:13) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: nods, having initiated those when she pinpointed the location :: XO: Already in progress.
(22:07:45) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: nods, pleased with Wright's initiative ::
(22:08:28) CO_Capt_Harper: :: looks up at the comm, as if it comes from there, and back at them :: RR: And that is all for now, then. :: Claps them both on the shoulder :: Congratulations and keep it up.
(22:09:09) CO_Capt_Harper: :: exits the RR to the bridge :: XO: Report.
(22:09:13) XO_Cdr_Vallero: Ash> :: smiles at Harper and exits the RR, apparently with both of them ::
(22:09:24) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Tries to sense if any thoughts coming from the surface.::
(22:09:31) TAC_2LT_Randen: Oooof. CTO: Ready, Sir.
(22:09:48) XO_Cdr_Vallero: CO: There's been a distress signal detected on the planet. Scans in progress.
(22:09:48) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: interrupts :: XO/CO: I don't know how this could be, but I'm reading 4 weak lifesigns.
(22:10:36) XO_Cdr_Vallero: Ash> :: makes her way off the Bridge, even though it sounds much more interesting up here ::
(22:11:01) CO_Capt_Harper: CSO: Transport them to sickbay. CTO: Have a security detail meet them there.
(22:11:38) LtJG_Chaka: :: Looks around and finds an empty seat at a currently unused science station, parking himself to watch in the absence of anything else pressing to do right now. ::
(22:12:14) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: wonders just what four people were doing on the rogue planet ::
(22:12:49) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: pinpoints the lifesigns and begins scanning around them for ANY weaponization :: CO: Sending. +Kuari+ SEC: Wolfe to Kuari. We have guests being transported to Sickbay. Ensure a safe environment for the crew.
(22:13:00) CSO_LCdr_Wright: CO: I... I can't get a lock, Captain. I think the mineral deposits may be interfering with matrix detection at this distance. Maybe if we get closer...?
(22:13:42) CO_Capt_Harper: NAV: Lower our orbit, and adjust inclination to match the coordinates of the distress call.
(22:14:03) SEC_Lt_Kuari: +CTO+ On my way! :: grabs two more and scurries to Sickbay ::
(22:15:53) NAV_2Lt_Suzuki: :: calmly :: CO: Lower orbit and adjust inclination, aye. :: guides the ship neatly through the requested transition ::
(22:16:36) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: CO: I cannot sense any thoughts from the planet. Either the distress is coming from a telepathically incompatible species or they are unconscious.
(22:16:42) LtJG_Chaka: :: Clears his throat. :: CO: I'd be happy to hop in a runabout and give a med team a ride down if it comes to that, Captain.
(22:17:07) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: keeps trying, keeps failing :: CO: It doesn't seem to have helped. I just... can't get a lock.
(22:17:54) CO_Capt_Harper: Chaka: Looks like that is what is about to happen. XO: Take a shuttle down there.
(22:18:00) SEC_Lt_Kuari: :: barges into Sickbay with two other Security personnel in tow, pants, looking around ::
(22:18:06) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: is actually really anxious about this for some reason, keeps futilely trying ::
(22:18:33) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: tries to boost the gain on the transporter, to see if that will be any help ::
(22:19:07) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: mutters under her breath :: No lock... no lock... no lock...
(22:19:15) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: nods to Harper, then to Chaka, while simultaneously comming Sickbay, contacting someone over there to join them in TR1 with a team ::
(22:19:27) LtJG_Chaka: :: To nobody in particular as he stands up :: I always thought the transporter wound up killing half the fun of going somewhere new anyway.
(22:19:35) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: enters TL ::
(22:20:01) LtJG_Chaka: :: Follows Vallero into the lift. ::
(22:20:08) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: lifts an eyebrow slightly at Chaka's comment, but mostly ignores it at the moment, focusing on the transporter ::
(22:20:19) CO_Capt_Harper: :: halts the TL door :: XO: Take security too. Something is, how do you say, fishy?
(22:20:49) XO_Cdr_Vallero: XO: :: grins at Harper:: You read my mind.
(22:21:23) CO_Capt_Harper: :: looks back at the Major and Lieutenant ::
(22:21:40) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Looks over at the Vallero, shaking his head with a grin, before trying just that with the people on the surface again.::
(22:21:49) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: mentally SHOVING down the memory of the last time she couldn't get a lock in time ::
(22:22:54) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: gestures at Randen :: TAC: Go ahead and go. :: smacks his Communicator :: +Kuari+ Wolfe to Kuari. Change of plans. Report to Shuttle Bay Two. You' ::
(22:23:00) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: You're going on a field trip.
(22:23:58) CO_Capt_Harper: :: crosses from the door to the tactical console :: CTO: What is the nature of their ship?
(22:24:02) SEC_Lt_Kuari: +CTO+ On my way...again! :: scurries ::
(22:25:03) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: rides TL with Chaka towards SB2 ::
(22:25:04) NAV_2Lt_Suzuki: :: suspects this could very well be a trap, once again plans evasives just in case ::
(22:26:21) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Strains, and shakes his head.:: Self: Still nothing. ::Frowns.::
(22:26:32) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: still trying. No lock... no lock... no lock... ::
(22:26:49) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: :: keeps scanning and FINALLY picks something up :: CO: Captain, I finally found a reading. It's very difficult to make out, but it's small. Very small. Looks like there's a Free Fleets transponder signal.
(22:27:00) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: tries routing nonessential power to the transporters to help ::
(22:27:11) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: enters SB2 helps Chaka fire up the runabout ::
(22:27:41) SEC_Lt_Kuari: :: enters SB2, notes the vessel powering up, and boards along with her two lackeys ::
(22:27:44) TAC_2LT_Randen: CTO: Aye Sir. :: Goes to the TL and enters when the doors hiss open :: Shuttle Bay 2. :: The computer beeps as the doors hissed shut and the TL takes him from the Bridge. ::
(22:27:52) CO_Capt_Harper: :: looks at the tactical console :: CTO: Perhaps they did get here first.
(22:28:33) CTO_Maj_Wolfe: CO: It - would appear so.
(22:29:03) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: whirls :: CO: There were no lifesigns on our first scan. I don't know how this can be.
(22:29:03) TAC_2LT_Randen: :: Minutes later he joins Lt. Kuari in SB2. :: SEC: Reporting as ordered by the Major.
(22:29:15) CO_Capt_Harper: :: walks to the front of the bridge and peers over Wright's shoulder :: CSO: The shuttlecraft will get them, Commander.
(22:29:29) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: ushers in the medical team and shuts the door behind everyone ::
(22:29:40) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: CSO: Perhaps a cloaking device, or some form of energy masking technology?
(22:30:11) SEC_Lt_Kuari: :: nods to Randen :: TAC: Welcome aboard.
(22:30:57) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: frowns, then turns back to her console waiting to give launch clearance to the runabout ::
(22:31:18) TAC_2LT_Randen: :: Nods back. :: SEC: Thank you, Sir.
(22:31:23) XO_Cdr_Vallero: ACTION: With haste, the Deschutes rises from the shuttlebay floor under Chaka's precision flying and speeds away from Atlantis towards the planet ::
(22:32:09) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: naturally hears the exchange and puts the excess power back where it came from and returns to musings as to how those people came to be on the planet whilst going through any data from the scans that may provide an answer or a clue ::
(22:33:17) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: starts attempting to lock via the runabout ::
(22:36:05) CO_Capt_Harper: ACTION> As the Deschutes approaches the crash site on the dark, rugged surface, sensors indicate a ship, but none can be seen.
(22:36:49) CO_Capt_Harper: :: walks back to the center seat and sits, a worried look lingering on the back of Wright's head ::
(22:37:39) CO_Capt_Harper: ;: turns back to the viewer, where the dark planet appears to go by much more quickly due to their low orbit ::
(22:37:52) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: mans the station next to Chaka :: +CO+ Deschutes to Atlantis. Sensors show a ship but we can't see it. Stand by, we're getting closer.
(22:38:39) SEC_Lt_Kuari: :: stands facing the outer door of the runabout, holding onto a handrail and waiting with her security team ::
(22:38:43) CO_Capt_Harper: *XO* Understood, Commander. :: narrows her eyes at the screen ::
(22:39:05) CSO_LCdr_Wright: :: finally gives up as the runabout approaches the surface and allows her shoulders to collapse, exhausted and waiting ::
(22:40:04) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: continues to scan and try to get a visual on the ship ::
(22:42:54) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: opens the comm :: Distressed vessel, this is the Deschutes from the USS Atlantis, please come in.
(22:43:25) CO_Capt_Harper: ACTION> The distress call just continues to repeat in answer...
(22:45:08) XO_Cdr_Vallero: :: sighs :: Chaka :: All right, let's land. Use your best judgment, but get as close as you can next to....nothing, apparently.
(22:45:52) XO_Cdr_Vallero: +Deschutes+ Everyone suit up. Let's see what's out there.
(22:46:49) SEC_Lt_Kuari: Is already suited with her marines and stands by ::
(22:49:23) XO_Cdr_Vallero: ACTION> The Deschutes lands near the distress signal, but looking out the window, there is still no sign of a crashed vessel.
(22:49:43) ENG_LtJG_Ilaihr: ::Sips his tea, pondering the circumstance, wondering what is interfering with their attempts.::
(22:50:20) SCI_Lt_TLira: :: is no closer to figuring out what those people are doing here, and the data continues to be stubbornly useless ::
(22:50:23) XO_Cdr_Vallero: Chaka: Right, keep ready to leave if this gets bad. I'll be staying here to scan.
(22:50:59) XO_Cdr_Vallero: +Deschutes+ Security, go see what you can find. Medical team, please stand by.
