(21:02:56) CdrTKirr: Hiya. Tav's rebooting his poor laptop.
(21:03:01) VAdmBlackthorne: OK.
(21:03:37) LtWright [Mibbit@i-73-062-552-594.hsd7.wa.comcast.net] entered the room.
(21:03:43) LtWright: Ahoy
(21:03:48) VAdmBlackthorne: Yello
(21:05:46) LtWright: How's things?
(21:06:52) VAdmBlackthorne: Good, how're you?
(21:08:36) LtWright: Okay, I suppose
(21:11:03) LtWright: No Tav?
(21:13:02) VAdmBlackthorne: He's apparently rebooting
(21:13:35) CdrTKirr: His laptop went from new to not new.
(21:13:39) DoctorTav [Bryan@90-43-96-75.res.bhn.net] entered the room.
(21:13:49) DoctorTav: Hey guys. Sorry for the tardiness
(21:13:50) LtWright: No McKnight and/or Percy?
(21:15:46) VAdmBlackthorne: Doesn't seem like it.
(21:16:28) LtWright: They haven't checked in or anything, huh?
(21:16:35) ColDougMcKnight [Mibbit@h-73-130-535-634.hsd7.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(21:16:45) LtWright: Speak of the debil!
(21:17:03) ColDougMcKnight: Hey, guys. Awful sorry I'm late. Had to change over some laundry. The timing with the machines did not work in my favor.
(21:17:35) ColDougMcKnight: Also, sorry about last week. I felt really bad about feebing like that, but I'd had an exhausting time with work, and I felt like hammered crap.
(21:17:51) VAdmBlackthorne: Ah
(21:17:57) LtWright: Splattery and smelly?
(21:18:52) LtWright: Sorry, I got the mental picture, and I felt the need to share it with all of you >>;
(21:19:27) ColDougMcKnight: Nice.
(21:19:30) LtWright: :: hangs head in shame ::
(21:19:33) DoctorTav: I could almost smell your mental picture
(21:20:17) DoctorTav: I wasn't sure if I should try to operate
(21:20:54) ColDougMcKnight: In any case, I had the day off work on account of a foot of snow blanketing Massachusetts, so shoveling aside, I'm feeling much better.
(21:21:51) ColDougMcKnight: I WILL warn you that it's been over a month since I was last doing plot stuff, and I'm not sure I remember EXACTLY where we were with stuff, but if you want to do that, I'll give it my best for the next little while.
(21:22:18) LtWright: We were being taken to hospitality in the gas giant

(21:23:34) VAdmBlackthorne: Alrighty then, shall we?
(21:24:22) LtWright: :: poised ::
(21:25:09) CdrHarper [Mibbit@jjlm-887-97-241-663.clppva.fios.verizon.net] entered the room.
(21:25:20) ColDougMcKnight: Sure thing.
(21:27:03) CdrTKirr: :: TWEEEET :: Attention!
(21:27:06) DoctorTav: :: AA ::
(21:27:08) LtWright: :: AA ::
(21:27:29) CdrHarper: ::AA::
(21:27:54) ColDougMcKnight: :: Pretty sure he's exempt. Nyah nyah. ::
(21:29:27) VAdmBlackthorne: (need me to do the topic?)
(21:30:31) ColDougMcKnight: (Ah, right. Sorry. One sec.)
(21:32:27) ColDougMcKnight has changed the topic to: Having been offered what hospitality the locals can offer while the preliminary diplomatic negotiations await the arrival of further interested parties, I THINK we were just about to commence docking procedures.
(21:32:54) VAdmBlackthorne: (We had docked already actually, that's right where we cut off)
(21:32:54) ColDougMcKnight: ( Bare bones, I know, but bear with me. Just need to get back into the swing of things. )
(21:33:21) VAdmBlackthorne: (I had forgotten too, if not for the chatlog on the website)
(21:34:37) ColDougMcKnight has changed the topic to: Okay! Apparently we've docked already. Now, rotations need to be drawn up for R&R, after which point...just avoid setting anything on fire.
(21:35:18) CdrTKirr: (Rotations would probably be my job)
(21:36:07) VAdmBlackthorne: BEGIN SIM
(21:36:09) VAdmBlackthorne: BEGIN SIM
(21:36:11) VAdmBlackthorne: BEGIN SIM
(21:36:42) CdrHarper: Hard mate, Admiral.
(21:37:27) VAdmBlackthorne: Excellent. :: turns to look at their guest ::
(21:39:48) ColDougMcKnight: Miraak> ::Realizes he'd been bracing himself, and begins breathing easier. :: Wow. I've looked over the specs plenty. Theoretically, I knew we could accomadate a ship this size, but with a hull configuration like that...well done, Commander Harper.
(21:40:10) LtWright: :: grins over at Harper ::
(21:41:28) CdrTKirr: :: is hard at work on those rotations, except it's like 2nd grade math to her ::
(21:41:29) CdrHarper: :: turns and smiles :: Thank you.
(21:41:54) VAdmBlackthorne: (2nd grade Vulcan math is calculus)
(21:42:01) CdrTKirr: (Okay 1st)
(21:42:56) DoctorTav: (Preschool?)
(21:43:11) ColDougMcKnight: ( At least us dumb monkeys still have a planet. )
(21:43:21) LtWright: (o snap)
(21:44:36) VAdmBlackthorne: (Damn!)
(21:44:48) ColDougMcKnight: (Yeah. I went there.)
(21:45:07) LtWright: (thems would be fightin' words if Vulcans got mad)
(21:46:55) ColDougMcKnight: Miraak> So, it'll be a little crowded trying to bring 1,000 of you over at once, but once we work that bit out, you're welcome to come on over. What's good for a bunch of miners might be a little crude by your standards, but we know you can at least sample our spirits, and I'll wager the view should be worth the trip over.
(21:47:45) VAdmBlackthorne: Thank you; we appreciate your hospitality. I'm looking forward to the view myself.
(21:50:46) CdrTKirr: :: texts the senior staff if they prefer leave earlier or later, going by seniority and all ::
(21:51:16) LtWright: :: leans toward Harper :: When are you heading over?
(21:51:53) CdrHarper: That would be Commander T'Kirr's decision.
(21:52:02) ColDougMcKnight: We should give some thought to our defenses first, sir. No disrespect to our hosts, but if we're not quite sure what some of these other league members are going to make of us...well, this isn't an ideal tactical posture.
(21:53:32) LtWright: :: responds to T'Kirr that she'll go in whatever rotation works best. ::
(21:53:52) VAdmBlackthorne: I think we'll be fine, but make any preparations you feel necessary.
(21:55:56) CdrHarper: :: turns back to the console to answer the message with the standard response, but pauses a moment then adds an addendum requesting to be scheduled with Wright ::
(21:56:41) ColDougMcKnight: Miraak> I'll give you access to our sensor net telemetry. You'll know of new arrivals as soon as we do. And so long as you remain docked at our facility, the Telthis operation will pledge responsibility for your safety. Will that satisfy?
(21:57:26) CdrTKirr: :: sighs and responds, I knew that, do you BOTH prefer earlier or later? ::
(21:59:41) ColDougMcKnight: :: Considers advising the Sharks be deployed, but reasons they'd just be adding unwarranted hassle, dodging around all the ship traffic already out there, and nods once before turning back to his console to see what the message chirping is about. ::
(21:59:42) CdrHarper: :: smirks and puts in an answer for earlier ::
(22:00:46) ColDougMcKnight: :: Chuckles a little at the message, and in lieu of answering in kind, just looks up at T'Kirr.:: I think I'll stick around here for now, Commander. Thank you.
(22:01:19) CdrTKirr: :: nods and notes it serenely, moving on to the rest ::
(22:03:46) CdrTKirr: (( test ))
(22:03:47) DoctorTav1 [Bryan@90-43-96-75.res.bhn.net] entered the room.
(22:03:56) ColDougMcKnight: (Pass?)
(22:04:00) DoctorTav1: (Uh...)
(22:04:27) DoctorTav1 is now known as DrTav
(22:04:50) VAdmBlackthorne: (Too many Tavs!)
(22:05:07) DrTav: :: messages back to T'Kirr that he has some experiments to complete in Sickbay and should like a later departure time ::
(22:05:17) DrTav: (That sounds like a TOS episode)
(22:07:14) DoctorTav left the room (quit: Ping timeout: 260 seconds).
(22:07:44) DrTav is now known as DoctorTav
(22:07:50) ColDougMcKnight: Miraak> Well, I should check in with the office. I've been released from my regular duties for this, but I'm still in the system. The higher ups will want some update on what the company funds are paying for. Contact me once you're ready to come aboard, and I'll arrange a tour. Not that it'll take long.
(22:08:18) VAdmBlackthorne: Certainly. We'll see you to the docking bridge.
(22:11:55) ColDougMcKnight: ::Nods to the marine guard on duty by the turbolift, signaling that he should accompany them down.:: I'll let them know you're coming down there.
(22:14:00) VAdmBlackthorne: See you aboard, and thank you again, Miraak.
(22:15:15) CdrHarper: :: secures the helm console, as she would if docked at a Federation facility ::
(22:16:26) CdrTKirr: :: sends out an updated duty roster with shore leave ::
(22:17:19) ColDougMcKnight: Miraak> ::Shrugs:: It's made for an interesting day or two. Not that we get paid any extra for interesting. But hopefully this will all end well.
(22:20:05) VAdmBlackthorne: :: nods :: See you for that tour.
(22:20:29) ColDougMcKnight: (Gotta go check something for a minute. I'll be right back.)
(22:21:47) LtWright: :: sees herself and Harper on the same shore leave rotation and grins, flashing a thumbs-up at Harper ::
(22:22:43) CdrHarper: :: returns it with a smile ::
(22:26:59) ColDougMcKnight: (And back.)
(22:27:08) VAdmBlackthorne: :: sees Miraak off the bridge with the Marine then turns back to the room :: Well, I'd say we're due a little R&R.
(22:29:25) ColDougMcKnight: :: Smiles. :: I have to admit, I am gradually warming to the idea that we might have stumbled upon people who legitemately have no interest in blowing us up. I'm trying to remember the last time that happened.
(22:30:14) VAdmBlackthorne: :: chuckles :: It would be refreshing. But, we're out here to find friends, and if we have, then mission accomplished.
(22:33:12) ColDougMcKnight: Not entirely sure what to do about this concern of theirs, though. I mean, I get it, but we can't exactly prove a negative. Minds you, I guess that's more your job. In any case, I'm willing to sign off on none of our people going out there armed, but for the moment, I WILL advise that everyone stays in groups and checks in periodically.
(22:33:32) VAdmBlackthorne: So noted.
(22:34:12) VAdmBlackthorne: T'Kirr, be sure everyone is advised of this recommendation.
(22:35:54) CdrTKirr: :: nods readily ::
(22:36:48) CdrTKirr: :: adds a note to the roster leave posting ::
(22:37:14) VAdmBlackthorne: :: heads back to his chair to take a look at the posting and see when T'Kirr scheduled them ::
(22:40:29) CdrHarper: :: finishes securing the helm and stands :: Station secured, permission to go off-duty?
(22:40:38) VAdmBlackthorne: Granted. Have fun.
(22:41:22) CdrTKirr: :: shows Blackthorne the PADD ::
(22:41:39) VAdmBlackthorne: :: takes a look and nods ::
(22:42:32) CdrHarper: Thank you. :: passes by Science on the way to the TL :: Meet you at the docking bridge?
(22:45:19) ColDougMcKnight: Are you earlier or later, sir? I WOULD like to assign at least one guard to you, whenever you go sightseeing.
(22:45:33) LtWright: :: nods at Harper :: Right behind you!
(22:45:45) CdrHarper: :: enters the TL ::
(22:46:02) VAdmBlackthorne: Volunteering yourself, Doug?
(22:46:58) LtWright: :: finishes up a few operational tasks before securing her station :: Permission to go off-duty, Admiral?
(22:47:17) VAdmBlackthorne: Granted, enjoy.
(22:47:35) CdrTKirr: :: watches the staff hurry off, one by one, from the center ::
(22:49:50) ColDougMcKnight: Heh, that IS the guard I prefer to send on these things.
(22:51:09) VAdmBlackthorne: That'll be fine. We're earlier.
(22:53:11) CdrTKirr: :: doesn't know how the command structure will cover without them separated, but meh ::
(22:54:01) VAdmBlackthorne: (Beta Shift CO!)
(22:54:05) ColDougMcKnight: ::Nods:: Hope that doesn't foul up the scheduling, Commander?
(22:54:18) CdrTKirr: (( 24/7? ))
(22:54:31) LtWright: :: steps out of the TL and makes her way to the docking bridge ::
(22:54:34) VAdmBlackthorne: (GAmma shift CO!)
(22:55:12) CdrTKirr: (( Assigns ensign to command stuff ))
(22:56:49) CdrHarper: :: is waiting at the bridge as a few of the first group make their way by :
(22:57:53) VAdmBlackthorne: (Three minutes!)
(22:57:57) LtWright: :: spots Harper and heads over to meet her ::
(22:58:20) CdrTKirr: :: finishes up last minute notes to their coverage ::
(22:58:51) CdrTKirr: :: shows PADD to Blackthorne :: Anything you wish to add?
(22:59:35) ColDougMcKnight: (Well, wanna have Wright and Harper make their way over? Setting the scene is the least I can do before we break.)
(22:59:47) VAdmBlackthorne: No, it's good, thank you.
(22:59:59) CdrHarper: (sure)
(23:00:44) CdrTKirr: (( I'm a glorified galactic secretary ::
(23:00:59) CdrHarper: :: greets her with a smile :: Hi Lexy. Ready to go?
(23:01:11) VAdmBlackthorne: ((I'm certain it couldn't be a more efficient schedule.)
(23:03:38) LtWright: Yep! I'm excited.
(23:03:40) ColDougMcKnight: (XO is kind of an interesting position. Granted, I mostly just played it in the old Academy sims a few times.)
(23:04:15) CdrHarper: As am I. This should be interesting. :: heads across the docking bridge with Wright ::
(23:04:23) CdrTKirr: (( I've filled in everywhere except Engineering really ))
(23:04:37) VAdmBlackthorne: (( Logan ))
(23:04:52) CdrTKirr: (( T'Kirr specifically ))
(23:05:33) VAdmBlackthorne: ((Ah, yes. Ian has the engineering background so he can take that for ya)
(23:07:06) ColDougMcKnight: ACTION> As the first group makes their way over, they're ushered through by a few Telthis security personnel, who give them a once over to make sure they're not armed for a fight, but otherwise don't give them much trouble. As they're ushered past, they come out onto a main level with staircases heading off to upper and lower levels. More interestingly,
(23:08:59) ColDougMcKnight: the observation window takes up the entire far wall, sloping outward. A high powered exterior forcefield helps fortify the structure, letting them get away with this much transparent material in the atmosphere of a gas giant. Anywhere one sits, they have a 180 degree view of a sea of swirling blues and reds, and a constant stream of ships zooming past.
(23:09:34) VAdmBlackthorne: ((Nice. That it?)
(23:10:01) ColDougMcKnight: (Guess we're running a little late. Sure, that's it for now. Maybe I'll add more next time.)
(23:10:34) CdrTKirr: (( Cool =D ))
(23:10:47) VAdmBlackthorne: PAUSE SIM
(23:10:48) VAdmBlackthorne: PAUSE SIM
(23:10:50) VAdmBlackthorne: PAUSE SIM
(23:10:53) CdrTKirr: :: pauses ::
(23:10:58) DoctorTav: :: pauses in the middle of an experiment... Nnnnnnow. ::
(23:11:11) VAdmBlackthorne: Alright! Nice exposition and great to be back underway.
(23:11:19) CdrTKirr: Yeah it is
(23:12:20) ColDougMcKnight: Okay, well thanks for bearing with me here. Pretty slow, I realize. Like I said, trying to get my bearings with this thing again. I'll do my very best to pick up the pace a little next time.
(23:12:49) CdrTKirr: Eh, it always goes slower than you expect.
(23:13:15) CdrTKirr: When sim runs, specifically, I mean
(23:13:30) VAdmBlackthorne: Oh yes.
(23:14:41) DoctorTav: But we are well set to start some serious... adventure.
(23:15:14) VAdmBlackthorne: Indeed.
(23:15:29) DoctorTav: So if it takes a bit of setup to get to that point, count me in.
(23:15:42) DoctorTav: And any good storyline takes some setup
(23:16:27) VAdmBlackthorne: True. Looking forward to seeing it continue next week!
(23:16:38) DoctorTav: Same here!
(23:16:53) LtWright: Me too!
(23:16:53) ColDougMcKnight: Oh, by the way. I realized I never did get around to replying to that e-mail you sent, Jason.
(23:17:15) VAdmBlackthorne: Not too late :)
(23:18:01) ColDougMcKnight: About the idea of a group exodus. I'll flesh this out in an actual e-mail, I guess, but I'd certainly be game for trying that out if everyone else is interested.
(23:18:40) ColDougMcKnight: I mean hell, it's not like I won't find stuff for McKnight to do. This is, for him, a job offer I established as open-ended in a log I wrote ten years ago.
(23:19:32) CdrTKirr: That's a long time ago. =X
(23:19:43) VAdmBlackthorne: It's an old sim.
(23:20:12) ColDougMcKnight: I know. I had to think for a second whether I had that right, but this dates to before I joined, so...this was an old log.
(23:24:08) DoctorTav: A little something you should enjoy if you've seen Frozen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7h7Mfe8BDw
(23:24:13) VAdmBlackthorne: Amazing how long it is when you look back on it.
(23:25:04) ColDougMcKnight: So, for what it's worth, if we decide to do that, even if just as a temporary thing until we find some way to earn our way back, I'm interested. Not the only way to shake up the status quo, but certainly one option.
(23:26:04) VAdmBlackthorne: Alright.
(23:27:06) CdrTKirr: Okay.
(23:29:47) VAdmBlackthorne: Good night everyone. See you next week!
(23:29:56) DoctorTav: Good night!
(23:30:01) DoctorTav left the room.
