(20:58:34) ChanServ has changed the topic to: When last we left, we were flying in the upper atmosphere of a blue-green gas giant, in formation with the rebel fleet. Ot is aboard in the conference room with most everyone, while repairs are underway to the damage sustained in the battle with the Confederate ship.

(21:08:58) DoctorTav: I have a friend who is in Los Angeles today... saw the picture he took from UNDER Endeavour. I so need to get out to KSC.
(21:09:59) ColDougMcKnight: Hey, folks. Sorry for the tardiness, even if it is negligible by my standards.
(21:10:05) VAdmBlackthorne: Hiya Mike
(21:11:06) CdrTKirr: Greetings. =)
(21:13:34) ColDougMcKnight: Rachel may be along later, but she's grappling with some back pain just now.

(21:13:46) CdrTKirr: Hi Harper
(21:13:49) LtLedaHarper: Bleary. Bleary. Bleary. So bleary.
(21:13:50) LtLedaHarper: Hi guys.
(21:13:58) ColDougMcKnight: Hoy, marine.
(21:13:58) DoctorTav: You too, eh?
(21:13:59) CdrTKirr: Sleepy?
(21:14:18) LtLedaHarper: I spent an hour or so mowing, and my eyes are not happy.
(21:14:20) VAdmBlackthorne: Hi Leda
(21:14:23) DoctorTav: Ah
(21:14:29) LtLedaHarper: Dust! Grass! aaaaah!
(21:14:34) DoctorTav: I think I have a hypospray for that.
(21:14:41) CdrTKirr: Allergy stuff?
(21:14:44) LtLedaHarper: Please. Please make my eyes happy.
(21:14:54) CdrTKirr: Lol aw
(21:14:56) LtLedaHarper: I'm not allergic to anything in a serious way, but it's very dry and there was plenty of dust.
(21:15:14) CdrTKirr: Yeah enough to irritate anyone I'm sure.
(21:16:36) CdrHarper [] entered the room.
(21:17:50) VAdmBlackthorne: Alrighty then, shall we?
(21:17:58) CdrTKirr: :: TWEEET :: Attention!
(21:18:16) DoctorTav: :: A... uh... A... ::
(21:18:28) ColDougMcKnight: ::AA::
(21:19:00) VAdmBlackthorne has changed the topic to: Ot has left the ship, only asking us to carry news of their rebellion with us. We're flying in a gas giant's atmosphere while we make repairs and try to figure out a way to deal with the energy phase in this system.
(21:19:06) VAdmBlackthorne: Questions?
(21:19:57) LtLedaHarper: Why us? Right, we're volunteers.
(21:20:24) CdrTKirr: paycheck?
(21:20:39) LtLedaHarper: I hear the dental's good.
(21:20:44) ColDougMcKnight: We're still surrounded by rebel ships?
(21:20:48) VAdmBlackthorne: Yes.
(21:20:55) DoctorTav: Really? Good dental? What drugs do they use?
(21:21:17) VAdmBlackthorne: Fuckitol.
(21:21:47) DoctorTav: Hey, I have a hypospray full of that stuff. Use it all the time
(21:22:39) ColDougMcKnight: Okay, and I'm just trying to get up to speed on exactly how this phase thing works. So torpedoes still work, because there's a physical casing and explosive yield, but phasers...don't connect with anything?
(21:22:59) VAdmBlackthorne: They pass through shields, since they're energy, but still hit the hull.
(21:23:30) ColDougMcKnight: Okay, so all weapons are super deadly to everyone.
(21:23:46) VAdmBlackthorne: Right.
(21:24:02) ColDougMcKnight: Good day to be flying a Mustang, I guess.
(21:24:19) CdrHarper: :toot:
(21:25:04) ColDougMcKnight: Okay...guess that's it, then. Anything else, I'll PM.

(21:25:50) VAdmBlackthorne: :: in the RR, looking out the window into the turquoise sky ::
(21:26:10) CdrTKirr: :: on the Bridge, as usual ::
(21:30:22) ColDougMcKnight: :: Back at his station on the bridge now, still not entirely sure he shares Wright's read on Ot, but nonetheless honoring his promise, not to mention his job, by keeping a close eye on the rebel ships. Also, a handful of manual targeting solutions that won't be detected, since no actual targeting scanners are used. ::
(21:31:29) CdrTKirr: :: despite having just been updated on the progress of the secondary hull repairs, performs a scan herself, party out of curiousity and partly to see if sensors will agree with the repairs report, more for doubt of validity of the sensors than the report ::
(21:31:31) ColDougMcKnight: Shame we don't have time to admire the view. Kinda reminds me of one of those balloon stations on Neptune I visited once.
(21:32:04) CdrTKirr: :: glances up at McKnight, then at the main viewer ::
(21:32:04) VAdmBlackthorne: ACTION> Sensors show a fleet just warped into orbit.
(21:32:52) ColDougMcKnight: :: Frowns :: And there's WHY we can't admire the view.
(21:33:19) CdrTKirr: :: at Science, notes the readings along with McKnight :: +Blackthorne+ Bridge to Blackthorne.
(21:33:22) ColDougMcKnight: ( Do they show how many ships? I'm not sure how badly the atmosphere is supposed to mask sensor readings. )
(21:33:30) LtLedaHarper: :: Harper Two has landed at one of the adjunct stations along the back wall, cross-checking her own targeting solutions after a quick debrief with the Colonel regarding her short time at Tactical: We shot at them. It was messy. Her head snaps up as the ship's computer chimes and the viewscreen shifts angles. ::
(21:33:52) VAdmBlackthorne: (Let's say fifteen)
(21:34:22) CdrHarper: :: at the helm, also tied into Ops since Wright isn't around ::
(21:35:15) ColDougMcKnight: :: He approves, for the record. :: Well, this isn't great. Just HOW hidden is this place?
(21:36:51) CdrTKirr: +Blackthorne+ A fleet has just warped into orbit, requesting your presence on the Bridge.
(21:37:12) VAdmBlackthorne: :: frowns :: +T'Kirr+ On my way.
(21:37:31) VAdmBlackthorne: :: leaves the windows and walks briskly onto the bridge :: Report.
(21:39:43) CdrTKirr: :: indicates the main viewer :: Fifteen vessels, in orbit, only just warping in.
(21:39:56) CdrTKirr: Purpose unknown.
(21:40:30) VAdmBlackthorne: Maintain yellow alert and get Ot on the horn.
(21:41:34) CdrTKirr: :: contacts Ot, only dimly noting she seems to be the only one at Science ::
(21:41:48) CdrHarper is now known as Ot
(21:42:14) Ot: :: appears on the screen :: I see you have detected the government forces.
(21:42:40) CdrTKirr: EnsLogan> :: appears out of nowhere to relieve T'Kirr, probably responding to Yellow Alert, SO should be a lieutenant by now ::
(21:42:42) VAdmBlackthorne: That answers my first question. What is your plan?
(21:42:55) VAdmBlackthorne: ( he suffers from Harry Kim syndrome )
(21:43:00) CdrTKirr: (( LOL ))
(21:43:21) Ot: We will engage them when we are ready. They will not pursue us down here; it is not in their protocol.
(21:44:42) Ot: If you wish to fight with us, we would be honored. Or, if you wish to follow us out and leave, that is your right.
(21:45:20) VAdmBlackthorne: Just let us know when you're ready to move. :: thinks a cut the comm throat slash to T'Kirr ::
(21:46:10) LtLedaHarper: :: Leda glances up to McKnight, knowing the rules. Regardless, she is finding firing solutions for the new ships. ::
(21:46:15) CdrTKirr: :: does so before handing the station to Logan and approaches the center ::
(21:47:13) VAdmBlackthorne: This I do not like.
(21:47:18) Ot is now known as CdrHarper
(21:47:44) LtLedaHarper: They seemed happy to fire on us last time.
(21:48:03) VAdmBlackthorne: No reason to suspect that'll change, given who we're hanging out with.
(21:48:44) ColDougMcKnight: Not seeing a way out of that, sir. But if our standard warp drive is working, then Ot's second choice IS the way if we're hoping to avoid escalating this.
(21:49:35) ColDougMcKnight: Of course, if they don't have a fix on us down here, then this might be our best chance to try talking to them. If that's still on the table.
(21:50:14) ColDougMcKnight: ( I ASSUME they don't, it being a supposedly hidden base and all? )
(21:50:26) LtLedaHarper: ( Maybe not so hidden NOW.... )
(21:50:36) CdrTKirr: :: looks from McKnight to Blackthorne, having been about to suggest this herself, not that it needed saying ::
(21:52:40) VAdmBlackthorne: I don't know that I care to hear the other side of this story. We're leaving.
(21:52:53) VAdmBlackthorne: I wish them well, but it's still not our war.
(21:55:57) VAdmBlackthorne: The rules are the rules. Let's get these repairs accelerated if possible. I don't know when Ot is going to attack.
(21:58:13) CdrTKirr: I'll inform Engineering it's top priority. Busard estimates the hull will be ready for warp within a few hours.
(22:00:25) ColDougMcKnight: Very well. I've been fiddling with the torpedoes' targeting systems. We can launch them in a full spread, and they'll seek out the individual signatures of the enemy torpedoes. Normally, I'd say it should make for a fairly effective counter-measure, at least until we get clear, but with that many ships out there...
(22:01:46) VAdmBlackthorne: Well, hate to say it, but that's why we'll follow Ot's fleet.
(22:03:08) CdrTKirr: :: ducks over to her console and converses with Engineering ::
(22:06:30) VAdmBlackthorne: :: walks to T'Kirr :: See if they can reinforce the hull with shields for warp flight.
(22:06:35) ColDougMcKnight: Even so, sir, with your permission, I'd like to upload the same targeting parameters to some of our escape pods. I can slave them to torpedo control easily enough.
(22:06:46) CdrTKirr: :: nods ::
(22:06:56) ColDougMcKnight: Just more crap to throw in the way of their weapons, if need be.
(22:08:11) CdrTKirr: Mustangs could intercept as well.
(22:12:40) VAdmBlackthorne: Indeed. We should be able to warp away as soon as we clear the atmo, but it's good to have such contingencies.
(22:17:37) ColDougMcKnight: So if you don't mind my asking, what are you planning to recommend to command about all this when we get back? Avoid this region of space entirely? Send an offer of mediation from a couple parsecs away?
(22:21:06) VAdmBlackthorne: Monitor the situation and if anyone wants to talk when the dust settles, talk.
(22:22:45) CdrTKirr: :: looks up :: Busard doesn't like it, but she claims we can use the shields to compensate if we need to go to warp. If the shields are ineffective to weapons and we're hit with a compromised location, however...
(22:23:38) VAdmBlackthorne: Yeah, I thought of that. Not a good option, but if we have to move before the hull repairs are complete, then it's what we have.
(22:24:24) ColDougMcKnight: There's ALWAYS some risk of running into something out here that'll turn us into space dust. At least between Harper at the helm and our bag of jury rugged counter-measures, we're got SOMETHING helping our odds.
(22:24:51) CdrHarper: :: smiles :: Thank you, Colonel.
(22:28:54) VAdmBlackthorne: Agreed. Let's get what we can done before they decide to make a break for it.
(22:28:59) ColDougMcKnight: :: Chuckles :: Well, it was a compliment to myself and the other Harper too. But you're welcome.
(22:31:53) VAdmBlackthorne: Kate, have the Sharks standing by.
(22:32:06) CdrHarper: Yes Admiral. :: Sends word to her pilots ::
(22:33:54) ColDougMcKnight: Chaka> ::Looks up from his crap hand at poker, and tosses his cards to the deck as the light goes on. :: Well, would you look at that! Damn those...whatever the hell these assholes call themselves.
