(21:00:30) ColDougMcKnight: Evening.
(21:00:46) VAdmBlackthorne: Hiya
(21:02:05) CdrTKirr: Greetings.
(21:07:34) LtAlexisWright [Mibbit@s-11-377-857-764.hsd3.or.comcast.net] entered the room.
(21:07:40) VAdmBlackthorne: Hiya
(21:07:59) CdrTKirr: Hey.
(21:08:13) LtAlexisWright: Sorry late very hot got home with dinner saw plants dying gave water now food cold but maybe plants live
(21:08:28) CdrTKirr: Lol aw...
(21:08:44) CdrTKirr: Well take a minute to eat, or breathe, or both... =P
(21:09:26) ColDougMcKnight: I feel...some of your pain. I don't have plants, but summers in Boston do suck, and I work outside these days.
(21:10:13) LtAlexisWright: 84 degrees ugh
(21:11:20) CdrTKirr: I work outside, in Florida, just as bad.
(21:13:44) CdrTKirr: Tav won't be joining us tonight, so we can start when you're up to it. =)
(21:17:17) LtAlexisWright: average high for June in Oregon is in the mid-70s, this 84 degrees business is not working for me
(21:19:11) CdrTKirr: Try 84 degrees with 100% humidity =D
(21:20:22) LtAlexisWright: No way, why the hell do you think I live in Oregon? :P
(21:21:05) CdrTKirr: Haha
(21:21:26) LtAlexisWright: Okay, point me in the right direction and shove and lets go
(21:22:55) CdrTKirr: lol
(21:23:05) CdrTKirr: We'll start, then
(21:23:36) VAdmBlackthorne: TWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!
(21:23:44) LtAlexisWright: ::AA::
(21:24:41) ColDougMcKnight: ::AA::
(21:26:43) CdrTKirr has changed the topic to: After extensive use of the transporters and assigned crew, Atlantis and Discovery have had various holodecks, cargo bays, and some storage areas crammed full of converted Vrissk. Both vessels are currently at warp heading towards the new Vrissk homeworld.
(21:28:27) CdrTKirr: We'll say the trip will take an hour sim time. Any questions?
(21:28:55) LtAlexisWright: So we picked a new homeworld?
(21:29:02) CdrTKirr: Yes
(21:29:20) ColDougMcKnight: Yeah, one. Remind me, we're doing this in the style of that one TNG episode? Replicate their planetside surroundings, and try to make it seem like they're travelling somewhere else on the same planet?
(21:29:59) ColDougMcKnight: Or...something completely different?
(21:30:01) CdrTKirr: The holodecks will be that way, yes.
(21:30:04) LtAlexisWright: So would this be a good point to be plotting out beamdown points for the various tribes based on their relative distance from others and preferred climates?
(21:30:36) CdrTKirr: That sounds like a good way for Science to pass the time.
(21:30:48) LtAlexisWright: Very well.
(21:31:20) CdrTKirr: We could have the Vrissk in the storage areas asleep, I suppose.
(21:32:45) ColDougMcKnight: Yeah, I guess this is way too many to just keep them all in transport stasis. But the idea is we're trying to keep them all sort of in the dark? Avoid having to explain space ships and new worlds?
(21:33:25) LtAlexisWright: We've been telling them that we are taking them to a land across a vast sea.
(21:33:38) LtAlexisWright: which is technically true.
(21:34:00) VAdmBlackthorne: Boundless sea, technically. :V
(21:34:06) VAdmBlackthorne: :: points to the plaque ::
(21:34:26) LtAlexisWright: :: points to Admiral :: what he said.
(21:34:27) CdrTKirr: Right. If any Vrissk were to wake, it wouldn't be so tragic as the TNG episode, but we're trying to keep trouble minimized.
(21:34:58) CdrTKirr: Only two Vrissk have actually seen inside the ship proper. =)
(21:35:18) LtAlexisWright: And they don't understand it for what it is.
(21:35:30) SthoKa [TKirr@90-43-96-75.res.bhn.net] entered the room.
(21:35:51) LtAlexisWright: At least, they're willfully ignorant.
(21:35:53) CdrTKirr: They'll be at their new home before we know it.
(21:36:20) ColDougMcKnight: Okay. Well, I'll say we've got a few marines in with them where they're awake, and a whole lot more in the corridors outside to make sure none of them somehow stray out into the ship proper.
(21:36:52) ColDougMcKnight: Total lockdown, but in a nice way!
(21:36:55) LtAlexisWright: And to an extent we're relying on their tribal leadership to keep things under control.
(21:37:03) CdrTKirr: Sounds good to me.

(21:57:24) ColDougMcKnight: :: Directs the driver to pull up alongside the Chieftain. It seems stupid to just sit and watch them wear themselves out chasing fictitious game, even if it IS their way of life. :: Need any help with that?
(21:57:56) ChieftainThossk: No, MacNite. It is invigorating to hunt again!
(21:58:32) CdrTKirr: :: finishes updating the holodeck program to introduce the missing data gradually so as to not be noticed, then nods to the marines :: As you were.
(21:59:34) ColDougMcKnight: McGann> :: Nods, her visit likely to be the most exciting part of his shift...unless things go completely to shit in the next few hours. :: Ma'am.
(21:59:48) LtAlexisWright: Stop simulation. Additional variable: Access to fresh water. Pause simulation as soon as any tribe passes critical thresholds for food, water, population, range exclusivity, or any other significantly limiting factor.
(22:00:11) LtAlexisWright: Restart simulation at previous rate.
(22:00:36) SthoKa: :: sees McKnight approach Thossk, fighting her instincts to go to her Chieftain when such a strange creature approaches him, but strange has recently become a way of life, and she knows she can trust the aliens, at least as much as her life is already in their hands ::
(22:01:18) SthoKa: :: is distracted by two Vrissk fighting nearby and moves to quell their fears ::
(22:01:34) ColDougMcKnight: :: Nods :: I suppose it is. I used to do a little of it myself, though it went out of fashion with our people a long time ago.
(22:02:18) ChieftainThossk: Then how do you get meat?
(22:03:09) LtAlexisWright: :: frowns as she sees a problem almost immediately :: Reset this starting location ... here. Restart simulation.
(22:03:44) CdrTKirr: :: responds to McGann with another nod and walks briskly off, checking a PADD for her next destination, something about a bottleneck in medical's delivery of synthesized tranquilizers to Cargo Bay Two ::
(22:07:09) LtAlexisWright: Pause simulation. Computer, please explain why vegetation is supplying so little food?
(22:08:00) ColDougMcKnight: :: Hoo boy. He REALLY doesn't want to use the word "magic" to answer that question. So, looking over at the fight Sthoka's going to break up, he tries to dodge it altogether. :: Oh, depends. We've got our methods. Are those two going to be a problem?
(22:08:44) LtAlexisWright: Computer> The trees produce a large edible fruit, but analysis shows that the fruit will be cause gastric distress in the Vrissk if consumed after it drops from the tree.
(22:08:59) ChieftainThossk: No, their disagreement will be settled. Even if it takes first blood to do so.
(22:09:14) LtAlexisWright: But the fruit are suitable food for the Vrissk before they drop from the tree?
(22:09:21) LtAlexisWright: Computer> Affirmative.
(22:09:36) LtAlexisWright: Then why is it not counted as part of the food supply?
(22:10:28) CdrTKirr: ACTION> Within Cargo Bay Two, SleepyVrissk groans and wakes up!
(22:11:18) LtAlexisWright: Computer> The fruit is produced high in the tree and the Vrissk are not anatomically able to reach them while they remain attached. Available data on Vrissk technology does not indicate a suitable tool.
(22:12:24) ColDougMcKnight: Marine> ::Snaps to as the equipment registers a spike in one of the Vrissk's vitals. :: Monkey foxtrot! Who's got the hypo?
(22:12:36) LtAlexisWright: Can a suitable tool be created using combinations of current Vrissk technology, or with minor deviations?
(22:13:47) LtAlexisWright: Computer> With minor deviations, this tool can be created and will allow the fruit to be gathered.
(22:14:22) CdrTKirr: SleepyVrissk> :: hisses at those asleep near him and looks up at the ceiling in wonder ::
(22:15:12) LtAlexisWright: :: looks over the tool, that appears to be essentially a long spear, except that a short sharp knife has replaced the spearhead and a makeshift net is attached to catch the fruit. ::
(22:15:15) CdrTKirr: (( Fifteen minutes until arrival ))
(22:16:30) ColDougMcKnight: Heh, now there's a tradition I occasionally wish we still practiced. Still, seems like kind of a waste of strength, needs of the journey and all.
(22:16:31) LtAlexisWright: Okay, assume tribes with ranges near these trees have access to these tools and resume simulation.
(22:17:18) LtAlexisWright: :: nods in satisfaction as the food supplies increase at a much more steady rate ::
(22:17:51) ChieftainThossk: They have much energy to burn off, given what has happened.
(22:17:59) CdrTKirr: DrNolan> :: rushes over with hypo and stabs SleepyVrissk before he can swipe at him :: Damn it!
(22:18:41) LtAlexisWright: :: adds 10 of the fruitspears to the replicator list ::
(22:19:34) LtAlexisWright: Computer, add reasonable rate of tool development to simulation.
(22:20:08) CdrTKirr: :: approaches CB2, nods to the marines, and enters ::
(22:20:16) ColDougMcKnight: Yeah, I guess I'll give you that. I'm just saying, rebuilding at journey's end is going to take all your focus. And maybe it's different for you, but among my people, we tended to find that spilling blood created a lot more problems than it ever solved.
(22:20:50) CdrTKirr: ((Quotable McKnight!))
(22:20:51) ColDougMcKnight: Marine> Let's do a sweep! Quick bio scan, make sure everyone else is still well under!
(22:20:53) ChieftainThossk: :: looks confused, but thinks on it :: Perhaps you are right.
(22:21:24) CdrTKirr: DrNolan> That's the problem! I couldn't give everyone their doses...we don't have enough juice!
(22:22:15) ColDougMcKnight: Not that it isn't necessary on occasion, mind you. I wouldn't have a job otherwise. But my father, he was...huh, I guess attorney won't mean anything to you.
(22:22:25) CdrTKirr: Why is there a shortage, Dr. Nolan?
(22:22:26) ColDougMcKnight: Mediator? Adjudicator?
(22:23:23) LtAlexisWright: +T'Kirr+ Wright to T'Kirr.
(22:23:44) CdrTKirr: DrNolan> :: spins around, surprised by T'Kirr ::
(22:23:52) ChieftainThossk: Mediator. I do that for our tribe.
(22:24:08) CdrTKirr: +Wright+ Go ahead.
(22:24:42) LtAlexisWright: +T'Kirr+ I think I have everything plotted, but I'd like to run it by you. Can you stop by Science at your earliest convenience?
(22:26:10) CdrTKirr: +Wright+ I'll be on my way shortly.
(22:26:50) ColDougMcKnight: Marine> We...we could shoot them?
(22:27:26) ChieftainThossk: When things are not settled by the drawing of first blood.
(22:27:36) ColDougMcKnight: Marine> Lowest setting, of course! They're already out. They'd never even know.
(22:28:15) CdrTKirr: DrNolan> :: gives the marine a look :: I'm a doctor. I can't answer yes to that. :: turns to T'Kirr :: Commander, Medical is stretched thin, and the tranquilizers even thinner. They're going to start waking up.
(22:30:54) CdrTKirr: :: looks to the marine, then back to Nolan :: His idea will work. We're almost to their new homeworld. I'll have this bay transported right after Thossk's tribe.
(22:31:47) CdrTKirr: :: heads out, towards the Bridge ::
(22:31:58) CdrTKirr: DrNolan> :: stands slack-jawed ::
(22:32:20) ColDougMcKnight: Marine> Well, she's not a doctor, so...
(22:33:00) CdrTKirr: ACTION> Atlantis and Discovery drop out of warp near planetoid 472, soon to be Vrissk II.
(22:33:20) CdrTKirr: :: enters the Bridge and looks to Science ::
(22:33:25) ColDougMcKnight: Do you have laws? Like, recorded? Or do you just have to decide each time who did wrong?
(22:34:10) LtAlexisWright: Ah, Commander. Come take a look, if you please?
(22:35:38) ChieftainThossk: Our ways are passed down to our young, but right and wrong are things that we just know.
(22:36:24) CdrTKirr: :: goes to Science, simultaneously comming Blackthorne that they've arrived ::
(22:37:26) LtAlexisWright: :: points down at the screen :: This is the simulated status of each tribe in approximately 50 years based on the beamdown points I've selected and this list of basics that I'd like to replicate and beam down with them...
(22:37:34) VAdmBlackthorne: :: responds by walking out on the bridge ;: Status?
(22:39:20) CdrTKirr: :: to Blackthorne :: We've arrived at Planet 472, reviewing data now. :: looks down at Wright's screen ::
(22:39:44) ChieftainThossk: On screen.
(22:39:48) ChieftainThossk: (Erp)
(22:39:53) VAdmBlackthorne: On screen.
(22:40:16) CdrTKirr: :: takes a minute to review the list and the projected results ::
(22:40:51) LtAlexisWright: The list includes things like basic supplies for them to build their first huts with for shelter, some specialized tools for cutting down fruit based on their current technology, and information on where the other tribes are located and where to find fresh water, things like that.
(22:41:38) LtAlexisWright: Perhaps a small supply of food and water to begin with, a few days worth at most.
(22:42:08) CdrTKirr: :: arches an eyebrow, glancing at Wright :: This is more than acceptable. Good workm Lieutenant.
(22:42:40) CdrTKirr: (( m = , ))
(22:42:57) VAdmBlackthorne: Harper> :: puts the planet up on the viewer :::
(22:43:48) LtAlexisWright: :: blushes :: Thank you, Commander. I'll send down the orders for replication right away. I've also made a list of a few basic pieces of information to tell the tribal leaders, as the length of seasons and things like this will be slightly different. I'll send it to your station for review. ::taptap::
(22:45:48) CdrTKirr: Excellent. :: moves down to the center of the Bridge, a place she hasn't been in a while, and consults her well-used PADD ::
(22:45:57) LtAlexisWright: :: sends orders for everything on her list to be replicated, separated by tribe, and prepped for beamdown ::
(22:46:38) VAdmBlackthorne: :: looks to the new world on the viewer, a lush gardenworld, pre-sentient evolution ::
(22:46:39) ColDougMcKnight: Ah. For us, that can be complicated sometimes. So we write down our laws, so it's the same standard applied to everyone, and nobody can say they didn't have a way of knowing them. And those laws state that it's not your job to punish the wrongdoers unless the chieftain appoints you.
(22:47:13) ColDougMcKnight: That way, nobody can say it's just one person's opinion they're being condemned for. And you avoid revenge seekers.
(22:47:26) ColDougMcKnight: At least...when everything works right, that's how it happens.
(22:47:55) ChieftainThossk: That seems complicated.
(22:49:09) ColDougMcKnight: Uh...yeah, it can be. And it's not perfect. But we've tried it a lot of ways, and so far, that's what works best for us.
(22:49:51) ChieftainThossk: You need others to tell you that it is wrong to kill unless in defense of your life or another's?
(22:49:51) ColDougMcKnight: Marines> :: Zap zap zap. ::
(22:50:20) CdrTKirr: :: to Blackthorne :: All environments are in fair condition, but I have an itinerary ready to send to the transporter rooms. I'd like to do an updated scan of the planet first, however.
(22:50:41) VAdmBlackthorne: :: nods :: Go ahead.
(22:50:55) CdrTKirr: :: looks to Wright ::
(22:50:58) LtAlexisWright: :: nods in agreement to the updated scan :: Scan initiated.
(22:52:11) ColDougMcKnight: No. But how do you deal with a thief? Imprison him? Fine him? Cut off his hand? Or do you just punish any and all crimes with death? Any one of them might "work". But which one you choose says a lot about what kind of a people you want to be.
(22:52:13) CdrTKirr: :: in the meantime, sits in her seat and puts in the list to stand by sending to both ships' TRs ::
(22:52:33) LtAlexisWright: There's been a fairly significant landslide, but it's in a portion of the planet we were not intending to use as initial habitat. Still scanning...
(22:52:47) ChieftainThossk: :: ponders ::
(22:53:37) ChieftainThossk: I would deprive the thief of something he valued. But thievery is rare among our people.
(22:54:21) LtAlexisWright: No major changes since the last scan aside from the aforementioned landslide.
(22:54:42) CdrTKirr: As to be expected. Thank you, Lieutenant. Sending transporter orders.
(22:55:04) CdrTKirr: (( Five minutes ))
(22:55:12) LtAlexisWright: The supplies for each tribe have been replicated and are ready to transport, if you want those to beam down first.
(22:55:17) ChieftainThossk: All have food. All have weapons. Why steal? What could anyone need?
(22:56:22) ColDougMcKnight: None of your tribes ever raid each other? Because the other tribe has access to better water, more plentiful game?
(22:56:36) CdrTKirr: Thank you, yes.
(22:57:16) LtAlexisWright: :: sends information for supplies tagged for each tribe to the TRs ::
(22:57:55) CdrTKirr: :: stands, then takes a moment to gaze at the planet onscreen ::
(22:57:56) ChieftainThossk: Yes, but that is rare. Among the tribe, all have as they need.
(22:59:07) LtAlexisWright: And if it is possible, ... I would like permission to see Thossk and Stho'ka personally to wish them well.
(22:59:39) VAdmBlackthorne: Good thing we got here before the Horathians.
(22:59:52) CdrTKirr: I believe all of us that have had contact with Thossk and Stho'Ka will wish to see them off.
(23:00:10) CdrTKirr: Permission granted.

(23:01:05) ChieftainThossk: :: paused ::
(23:01:25) CdrTKirr: Thanks guys, hope you don't mind moving right along.
(23:02:06) LtAlexisWright: needed to be done
(23:02:55) LtAlexisWright: And it's coming together quite nicely!
(23:02:59) VAdmBlackthorne: Next week we should be able to wrap this up... and have a party!
(23:03:08) VAdmBlackthorne: It'll be Atlantis's sweet sixteen.
(23:03:09) CdrTKirr: Yay!
(23:03:17) CdrTKirr: Next week?
(23:03:18) LtAlexisWright: Awwwww, she's all growed up
(23:03:30) VAdmBlackthorne: Yeah, I figure we can do both.
(23:03:52) CdrTKirr: Cool. I'll see if I can convince Tav.
(23:04:20) ColDougMcKnight: Woo!
(23:04:47) VAdmBlackthorne: Think we can get Percy too? :)
(23:05:36) ColDougMcKnight: Honestly, I have no idea. She's been going back and forth to Connecticut. She's in practice and rehearsal for a Ren Faire.
(23:05:45) ColDougMcKnight: But I hope so.
(23:05:57) VAdmBlackthorne: Cool.
(23:06:14) CdrTKirr: I miss her.
