(21:46:48) CdrTKirr: Agreed. :: nods :: I shall note it in the reports.
(21:48:17) LtAlexisWright: +Tav+ Not a problem. I wanted to check in with you - do you have any idea of how many individuals we are talking about? Are there any special environmental considerations I need to look for aside from a standard class M?
(21:48:54) VAdmBlackthorne: And what about you?
(21:50:01) SthoKa: :: fast-forwards, having slowed her pace as the terrain became more difficult, and approaches a cave mouth ::
(21:50:03) DoctorTav: + Wright + So far, I know of two individuals. However, I am really hoping there are many more. So far, if I am understanding the data correctly, there are several thousand of these non-corporeal Vrissk on the planet.
(21:50:28) ColDougMcKnight: :: Breathing a bit heavy, but he's entertaining no thought of slowing down. In a way, refusing to fall behind this creature is the closest he's going to get to satisfying his instinctive need to get back at them for last time. ::

(21:52:10) LtAlexisWright: +Tav+ Any special environmental considerations in terms of supporting life aside from typical class M?
(21:52:21) DoctorTav: Computer > Working. Time to completion of simple model of life form: Twelve minutes.
(21:52:49) VAdmBlackthorne: How are you? This mission has been a bit of a mental roller-coaster.
(21:55:51) CdrTKirr: :: flicks her eyes to the floor momentarily before meeting Ian's gaze :: I cannot deny their existence, what I've seen. It's...quite a curiosity. I'm very interested to find what Tav's research reveals about their current state.

(21:57:57) ColDougMcKnight: +Wright+ McKnight here. Standby.
(21:58:18) VAdmBlackthorne: Well, good work all around so far. I hope we can help them all the way.
(21:58:40) SthoKa: Not deep. Shallow. But stones inside cover food, protect from others taking. I cannot move them now.
(21:58:53) LtCmdrBusard left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
(21:59:24) CdrTKirr: As do I. They are an interesting people. Honest.
(21:59:50) ColDougMcKnight: We've got it. We can bring in machines to help if need be.
(21:59:52) VAdmBlackthorne: Oh? How so?
(22:00:33) ColDougMcKnight: :: Pauses to wonder if they'd understand that adequately, but decides it doesn't matter. :: You probably won't understand what we're doing up here. But stick around if you prefer.
(22:01:16) CdrTKirr: :: relaxes a little in thought :: They are aggressive, their ways somewhat foreign to me, even though I have studied many other species. Animalistic, naturally. Their values are similar to other aggressive species, but unlike those, I have seen no signs of attempts at deception. It's...refreshing.
(22:01:51) DoctorTav: +Wright+ Tav to Wright.
(22:01:54) SthoKa: :: watches McKnight while he speaks, then simply nods and enters the cave ::
(22:02:05) LtAlexisWright: +Tav+ Go ahead, Doctor.
(22:02:38) DoctorTav: +Wright+ Sorry for the delay in communication. Back to your question, for the Vrissk, I think a Class M planet should suit them just fine. That is what this planet was before, right?
(22:03:27) LtAlexisWright: +Tav+ Yes. I just wasn't sure if there was anything special they would need following their... reconstitution. Thanks - let me know if you find anything I need to know.
(22:04:45) VAdmBlackthorne: So they are aggressive, but honorable
(22:04:46) VAdmBlackthorne: .
(22:04:56) DoctorTav: +Wright+ You got it. I am assuming a Class M planet will work. We'll know for sure when they are reconstituted.
(22:05:41) ColDougMcKnight: Okay. Signal base camp to get a proper scanning crew up here, ASAP. In the meantime, let's get these stones moved.
(22:05:56) ColDougMcKnight: +Wright+ Okay. Go ahead when ready, Lieutenant.
(22:06:00) CdrTKirr: Two values highly sought after a certain species we're very familiar with.
(22:06:38) CdrTKirr: (( lovely word, "reconstituted" ))
(22:08:02) VAdmBlackthorne: Yes. Hm. I look forward to meeting them.
(22:08:14) LtAlexisWright: +McKnight+ Colonel, when you reach the food stores, can you please let me know what kind of food we're talking about? I want to determine what kind of environment they are used to based on their food - fish, meat, grain, fruits and vegetables, that sort of thing.
(22:08:30) LtAlexisWright: (( I thought it was fairly apropos ^_^ ))
(22:08:49) LtCmdrBusard [Mibbit@v-30-997-94-44.hsd7.vt.comcast.net] entered the room.

(22:09:59) CdrTKirr: (( WB ))
(22:10:57) SthoKa: :: hovers around the stones inside, wishing she could lift them ::
(22:11:55) LtAlexisWright: +T'Kirr+ Wright to T'Kirr.
(22:15:10) LtAlexisWright: +Tav+ On my way. :: heads over to Sickbay ::
(22:15:25) CdrTKirr: +Wright+ T'Kirr here.
(22:16:37) LtAlexisWright: +T'Kirr+ Commander, with your permission, I'd like to transport down to the surface and speak with the Chieftain to learn more about the biomes their species is accustomed to.
(22:17:29) CdrTKirr: +Wright+ Of course. Keep me posted.
(22:18:04) VAdmBlackthorne: :: nods with approval :
(22:18:13) LtAlexisWright: +T'Kirr+ Aye, Commander. Wright out. ::swishes into Sickbay and greets Tav as she enters the lab ::
(22:18:50) DoctorTav: :: greets Wright as she enters :: I needed a second set of eyes. For this. :: points to the screen on which is the image of a Vrissk ::
(22:19:15) DoctorTav: I believe you are looking at a model of Stho'Ka's body.
(22:20:45) LtAlexisWright: :: leans in to look closely :: Fascinating. How certain are you that this is accurate? :: touches the screen to look at the image from a variety of angles ::
(22:22:15) ColDougMcKnight: :: Works with the other three soldiers, each getting as solid a grip as possible. :: Okay, on three. One, two...lift!
(22:23:07) CdrTKirr: I wish to point out successful efforts of our team specific to making our holographic Vrissk happen as well.
(22:24:08) VAdmBlackthorne: It was impressive, even seeing it from the holodeck perspective. Wright's performance seemed to be very good.
(22:24:41) DoctorTav: :: keeps peering at the screen :: Well, that's why I wanted a second set of eyes. I took this information :: pulls up the waveform of the radiation from the scans :: and noticed a faint, almost imperceptible spike in the Gamma radiation. That spike led to my noticing another spike, in neutrons. that is all there is when you are standing in front of a Vrissk. All else is lost in the ambient radiation. From those two spikes, interwoven like DNA,
(22:24:55) DoctorTav: , the computer came up with this model.
(22:25:38) LtAlexisWright: :: nods :: I'm planning to head down to the surface to meet with the Chieftain - would you like me to take this image and get his feedback on it's accuracy?
(22:26:01) LtAlexisWright: (( its, even
(22:26:07) SthoKa: :: hisses disagreeably when the removal of stones reveals what's underneath :: Our food has become stone! :: points :: There, fish, and there, that was fruits. :: makes a mourning sound :: Will I ever again taste honeyberry?
(22:26:24) DoctorTav: That would be great. :: hands Wright a PADD with the images on them ::
(22:27:02) LtAlexisWright: Excellent. :: takes the PADD :: I'm actually ready to head down now, if there's anything else you'd like me to ask him?
(22:27:58) ColDougMcKnight: :: In lieu of a platitude, sets his scanner to maximum resolution in hopes of picking up even the smallest remaining trace of organic matter. ::
(22:28:03) DoctorTav: If this image is correct, there is enough information that we could use the Transporters to put the Vrissk back together. Of course, we would probably need to get more transporters. So that is my main concern right now: Is that image accurate to who they are. But of course, you are excellent at figuring out the questions I need to ask before I do sometimes, so don't hesitate with any you come up with.
(22:28:12) VAdmBlackthorne: Not to mention translating her actions into a believable facsimile.
(22:28:50) LtAlexisWright: :: grins :: We make a pretty good team, Doc.
(22:29:10) CdrTKirr: Evidence of excellent programming as well.
(22:29:17) LtAlexisWright: I'm going to head down, then - call me if you think of anything else you want to know, and I'll let you know when I have something for you.
(22:29:54) VAdmBlackthorne: Indeed. I believe I'll recommend a commendation to Admiral Zuriyev.
(22:30:22) LtAlexisWright: :: waves and leaves, headed for the nearest transporter bay ::
(22:31:20) CdrTKirr: :: nods, finding his intentions acceptable ::

(22:32:13) LtAlexisWright: (( sorry for bailing on you too fast :) ))
(22:32:28) VAdmBlackthorne: You're dismissed, but before you go, dinner tonight? Lost Harbor, perhaps?
(22:32:35) SthoKa: ACTION> The scans of the food stores turn up 100+ inorganic. Not even the cave could save it.
(22:32:36) DoctorTav: (( No problem :) ))
(22:33:02) LtAlexisWright: :: swishes into the transporter bay and exchanges brief pleasantries with the transporter tech, then steps up on the pad :: Energize.
(22:33:16) CdrTKirr: :: merely perks an eyebrow and nods ::
(22:35:28) LtAlexisWright: :: rematerializes on the surface and blinks against the change in light and greets the nearby Marines :: I'm here to speak with the Chieftain. Do you happen to know where I can find him?
(22:35:54) ChieftainThossk: :: watches the Rite person materialize from thin air, not even surprised by it anymore ::
(22:36:01) VAdmBlackthorne: :: smiles :: Good.
(22:36:24) ColDougMcKnight: Fuck.
(22:36:53) CdrTKirr: I'll check in with Science and report when we have something.
(22:37:03) SthoKa: :: cocks her head ::
(22:37:04) VAdmBlackthorne: Excellent.
(22:38:34) SthoKa: I cannot eat, yet I wish to taste it again. Why do you want our food?
(22:38:47) CdrTKirr: :: bows her head and steps out ::
(22:39:08) DoctorTav: :: quickly brushes up on how a transporter uses biological information to move a person through a matter stream, and what he would need to do with DNA info to turn it into a living body, or even if it would be theoretically possible. ::
(22:39:14) LtAlexisWright: :: peers around and spots the Chieftain nearby, approaching him slowly with her hands spread in a peaceful gesture and her eyes lowered respectfully, and addresses him in his language :: Chieftain, I have come to speak with you, with your permission.
(22:39:39) ChieftainThossk: Hello, Rite.
(22:40:10) ColDougMcKnight: :: Sighs :: Not sure how it matters now, but what the hell. Basically...your food was once alive, just like you, right?
(22:42:15) SthoKa: :: bows in agreement :: Yes.
(22:42:46) LtAlexisWright: :: upon being acknowledged, raises her eyes to meet his and steps in to a conversational range :: Hello. I have come to answer and ask questions. First - our healers are working on a way to restore your people, and think that it may be possible. I brought with me an image of what we think your people looked like when they were whole.
(22:43:24) ChieftainThossk: Your Reth was a good image.
(22:43:47) LtAlexisWright: :: pulls out the PADD and brings up this image :: This is intended to be a small representation of SthoKa. Can you tell me how accurate this is? We can look closer at any part.
(22:45:15) ColDougMcKnight: That means, whether it was once a fish, or a bird, or whatever, it was similar to you. No matter how different it looked, if it came from the same world as you, then it...then its blood was almost like yours. We could have worked with that.
(22:45:32) ChieftainThossk: That... that was her, yes.
(22:45:54) DoctorTav: :: realizes that in order to turn the information he has into a transporter pattern, he's going to need help from someone who better knows transporters. But first, he needs to create an entire image and model of what would go into the buffer
(22:46:27) LtAlexisWright: Excellent. :: taps a quick message to Tav letting him know that the image is accurate :: That will help our healers much.
(22:47:32) DoctorTav: :: has created an image of Thossk in the time Wright has been away, and sends that image to her, after acknowledging the message she has sent. ::
(22:48:00) ChieftainThossk: I am glad to be of help. If your healers can help Vrissk, then I will help them.
(22:48:21) LtAlexisWright: The second thing I need to tell you is more difficult. While we think we may be able to save some of your people, we don't think we will be able to restore your world. We think the best option is to take you to a world that is similar to what your world once was, and so I want to learn more about your world.
(22:49:04) LtAlexisWright: :: gets the message from Tav and shows the image to the Chieftain :: The healers want to know if this is an accurate representation of you?
(22:49:32) ChieftainThossk: There are other worlds?
(22:50:10) ChieftainThossk: And you could take us to them?
(22:50:44) SthoKa: Everything from our world...is now like stone, except us. Why are we not stone?
(22:51:10) LtAlexisWright: We would need to take you across a great ocean to a new land where no tribes have lived. Do you understand crossing oceans?
(22:51:31) ChieftainThossk: Yes. We have never done it, but understand.
(22:52:15) ColDougMcKnight: I have no idea. You'd need to ask someone a lot smarter. I'm sorry.
(22:53:11) SthoKa: :: looks down at the dessicated food ::
(22:53:44) SthoKa: Do...you wish to stay, or have me return you to the village?
(22:53:46) LtAlexisWright: So yes, if everything goes perfectly and we can restore your people, then we plan to help you cross the ocean to let you make your home in a new land. We want to make sure that we take you to a place that is similar to the home you knew. Can you teach me of your home?
(22:54:22) CdrTKirr: (( I like how you quickly abandoned the 'world' idea ))
(22:54:28) LtAlexisWright: Tell me about the weather in your skies, the winds, the plants, the animals, the food that you ate, the materials that you used for building.
(22:54:47) ChieftainThossk: :: looks up at the sky :: You do not speak of a land across the ocean. All of the Vrissk home must be like this. Dead. Like us.
(22:55:04) CdrTKirr: (( ~~Five minutes~~ ))
(22:56:11) CdrTKirr: :: arrives in the science lab, looking over the results for herself ::
(22:56:34) LtAlexisWright: I think the Vrissk home can be wherever the Vrissk go. When a home burns down, that doesn't mean we have no home forever, it just means we need to build a new one. Where there is life, there is hope.
(22:57:01) ColDougMcKnight: No, we'll stay and do another scan. Just to be sure.
(22:57:09) LtAlexisWright: Your new home will never be the same, but it can still be home. Yes?
(22:57:33) ChieftainThossk: Yes. But I know it is more than just crossing an ocean.
(22:58:22) LtAlexisWright: Oceans of water, oceans of sky, oceans are still oceans. Things that must be crossed to find a new place.
(22:58:32) DoctorTav: :: knowing now what to look for at the sites where Vrissk are present, begins to use the ship's sensors to scan for the life signs of various members of this race. Within a few hours, he has over a thousand different unique signatures of this radiation. ::
(22:59:18) ChieftainThossk: :: gestures at the mountain above :: The mountain protected us from the prevailing wind. The sun was good and warm.
(22:59:48) ChieftainThossk: :: sweeps an arm across the slope down to where the river was :: We had good hunting here, and the river at the bottom of the hill had many fish.
(22:59:54) CdrTKirr: (( gets images of sunbathing lizard people ))

(23:01:46) DoctorTav: We are closing in on a solution.
(23:01:55) CdrTKirr: I was thinking that, actually.
(23:01:57) DoctorTav: I wanna hear more

(23:03:20) LtAlexisWright: I have no idea who the Chieftain is being played by, so iono who to talk to. Do you want it in a log, or save it for actual sim time?
(23:03:45) VAdmBlackthorne: It's me :)
(23:03:57) VAdmBlackthorne: And feel better Percy!
(23:04:04) LtAlexisWright: Oh-ho!
(23:04:29) DoctorTav: Mamma always told me, never trust a smiling lizard.
(23:05:11) LtAlexisWright: trusting lizards in general is generally unwise, but these seem to be okay.
(23:05:36) LtAlexisWright: So - log or save for sim?
(23:05:59) CdrTKirr: I'd like a log, or sim, either way really
(23:06:11) LtAlexisWright: I'm fine either way.
(23:06:14) ChieftainThossk: A log would be great, sim's fine too though if there's no time between then and now.
(23:06:47) CdrTKirr: But yeah, when Jason released his first Chieftain log I was impressed, he got my vision for the Vrissk down great, so I let him run with it
(23:06:51) DoctorTav: Asking Blackthorne if a log would be a good idea is like asking Jim Kirk if women are pretty.
(23:07:09) CdrTKirr: lol...
(23:07:30) LtAlexisWright: We're probably closing on our house sometime in the next 7 days, so I might be hard to pin down, but we can go back and forth via email for the next few days and then put it all together
(23:07:48) LtAlexisWright: I'm fine with whatever you'd like to do. :)
(23:08:02) CdrTKirr: Cool, I look forward to the story whichever way it happens. =)
(23:08:08) LtAlexisWright: I've never done an actual for real joint log before so I have no clue how they work
(23:08:15) CdrTKirr: Meanwhile...bed is calling, so good night sim-peeps
(23:08:21) LtAlexisWright: Nini!
(23:08:28) DoctorTav: Well, I need to finish the program book for the Miss Boca Raton pageant. So I will see you all next week
(23:08:38) LtAlexisWright: Have fun
(23:08:41) CdrTKirr: Sounds like a good first opportunity, and the best of joint-people to start with
(23:08:50) VAdmBlackthorne: Good night all!
(23:08:56) DoctorTav: :: puts on Voyager in the background ::
(23:08:58) LtAlexisWright: totally :)
(23:09:09) DoctorTav left the room.
(23:09:17) CdrTKirr: I have a tiny sliver and can't find it =( Oh well.... zzzzZZZZ
(23:09:19) CdrTKirr left the room.
(23:09:20) SthoKa left the room.
(23:09:41) LtAlexisWright: So Jason, just let me know how you want to do this and we'll get it sorted out?
(23:09:52) VAdmBlackthorne: Shared google doc.
(23:10:39) LtAlexisWright: Okay, I'll make a doc and list a bunch of questions as a starting point, and then we can take your answers and build on the conversation wherever it goes from there?
(23:11:30) VAdmBlackthorne: Alright.
(23:11:54) LtAlexisWright: we can rearrange the questions and answers once we're ready to put it all together, is that a good way to approach this?
(23:12:31) VAdmBlackthorne: Yes, I'd like to see you drive it. I've done a million.
(23:12:43) VAdmBlackthorne: So you take the lead and let's see what happens.
(23:12:58) LtAlexisWright: Okay, but please feel free to tell me if I'm doing something that you're fairly certain is not going to work. XD
(23:13:05) VAdmBlackthorne: Will do.
(23:13:17) LtAlexisWright: You'll have a document sometime later tonight. :)
(23:13:28) VAdmBlackthorne: Great!
(23:13:36) LtAlexisWright: Thanks! <3
(23:14:01) LtAlexisWright: I'm off too, talk to you soon ^_^
(23:14:05) LtAlexisWright left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
(23:14:43) VAdmBlackthorne: Night folks!
