(21:02:37) VAdmBlackthorne: Evening
(21:02:45) ColDougMcKnight: Hey, guys.
(21:03:18) CdrTKirr: Hello.
(21:03:49) ColDougMcKnight: Testing...
(21:04:01) LtJGAlexisWright: Failure.
(21:04:21) JorvanTav [JorvanTav@90-43-96-75.res.bhn.net] entered the room.
(21:04:26) VAdmBlackthorne: Evening
(21:04:44) JorvanTav: Good evening, everyone.
(21:05:26) ColDougMcKnight: Okay, it is working. Sorry, this is my first attempt at simming from a new mobile device. Still getting the hang of it.
(21:06:33) CdrTKirr: Tav's tapping in from an iPad, a new IRC app we bought.
(21:07:27) ColDougMcKnight: Nice. I'm using an Asus Transformer pad. Birthday present.
(21:07:41) EnsUrist: omg i am here
(21:07:57) JorvanTav: See if they have LimeChat for that. That's what I have and I am really liking it
(21:08:04) LtJGAlexisWright: I'm on the oldest most crap decommissioned 400 pound monstrosity of a laptop, so y'all and your shiny toys can suck it.
(21:08:11) JorvanTav: Especially if you have a keyboard that works for it.
(21:08:20) ColDougMcKnight: And forgive me if I'm a little slow. Using one of those virtual keyboards.
(21:08:25) JorvanTav: Sorry, Wright.
(21:08:51) LtJGAlexisWright: Also virtual keyboards are silly when Swype exists.
(21:08:59) LtLedaHarper [Talaith@04-545-578-940.hlrn.qwest.net] entered the room.
(21:08:59) LtJGAlexisWright: SILLY.
(21:09:00) EnsUrist: I recommend http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Bluetooth-Keyboard-Apple-iPhone/dp/B005EOWBKE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344474512&sr=8-1&keywords=amazonbasics+bluetooth+keyboard
(21:09:06) LtLedaHarper: Ladies. Germs.
(21:09:12) VAdmBlackthorne: Hiya Harper
(21:09:25) JorvanTav: That's nice.
(21:09:55) ColDougMcKnight: BRB. Gonna rustle up some coffee.
(21:10:17) LtJGAlexisWright: I recommend http://www.swype.com/
(21:11:15) LtJGAlexisWright: Oh, but you have an iPad so.
(21:11:39) JorvanTav: I wish Swype made their thing for the iPhone. I have a friend with an Android and he uses that
(21:11:54) JorvanTav: There was one made for iPhone, different company, and it just wasn't as good.
(21:12:31) VAdmBlackthorne: I love Swype on my android phone
(21:12:39) LtJGAlexisWright: *lovingly caresses her Android phone*
(21:12:39) VAdmBlackthorne: So much faster than typing letter by letter
(21:12:44) LtJGAlexisWright: srsly.
(21:12:54) LtJGAlexisWright: And it even learns my bullshit words.
(21:12:55) JorvanTav: On the iPad I am almost exclusive to the keyboard
(21:13:03) VAdmBlackthorne: I've taught it to swear.
(21:13:16) LtLedaHarper: VERY important.
(21:13:18) LtJGAlexisWright: like.... Swype learned to recognize "shitfest" and I was so proud
(21:13:23) JorvanTav: Android conversations still wind up on damnyouautocorrect.com
(21:14:58) LtJGAlexisWright: orly?
(21:15:22) JorvanTav: Mind you, not nearly as often as iPhone conversations, but sometimes
(21:15:39) CdrHarper [Mibbit@woaq-62-719-65-691.rcmdva.fios.verizon.net] entered the room.
(21:16:02) JorvanTav: Eventually I plan to get a new phone for my real estate business, and when I do it will probably be an android, just so I can have both.
(21:16:19) VAdmBlackthorne: That's why I have an iPod Touch.
(21:16:27) VAdmBlackthorne: It's a better music player than my phone anyway.
(21:16:56) JorvanTav: I want to do some programming for the Android market. Especially my hypnosis stuff
(21:17:12) VAdmBlackthorne: Alright, let's get this show on the road.
(21:17:21) LtJGAlexisWright: Sometimes I type things wrong and Swype remembers that too but it has lethe button.
(21:17:41) ColDougMcKnight left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).

(21:20:20) VAdmBlackthorne has changed the topic to: Atlantis made history with a quantum slipstream flight to Gencodia, reducing a trip of weeks to a matter of fifteen minutes. While we analyze the data from that flight, we're investigating a class-M planet on long-range sensors that's no longer class-M at all!
(21:21:42) VAdmBlackthorne: Questions?
(21:22:59) ColDougMcKnight: Not thus far.
(21:23:23) VAdmBlackthorne: We travel at standard warp while the slipstream drive data is analyzed and the drive is checked.
(21:24:25) CdrTKirr: Last I remember
(21:24:52) LtJGAlexisWright: I assume I'll be getting some preliminary findings up from the lab sometime soon.
(21:24:56) CdrTKirr: We were in range to scan and found indications of past life
(21:25:52) VAdmBlackthorne: Alrighty then, in that case, we're approaching said planet.
(21:26:20) VAdmBlackthorne: BEGIN SIM
(21:26:21) VAdmBlackthorne: BEGIN SIM
(21:26:22) VAdmBlackthorne: BEGIN SIM
(21:27:13) LtJGAlexisWright: ....An inhabited Class M planet, complex lifeforms. Now.. no trace. I'm performing additional scans for life signs.
(21:27:18) VAdmBlackthorne: :: in the ready room while they approach the planet, sending off a report to Zuriyev on the slipstream flight ::
(21:27:43) VAdmBlackthorne: Executive Summary> Holy shit, it worked.
(21:28:22) CdrHarper: :: at the helm, monitoring the engines as they warp along closer ::
(21:28:45) JorvanTav: :: is waiting at the TurboLift on Deck Ten. The TL seems to be taking an exceptionally long time to arrive
(21:29:41) EnsUrist: ::In main engineering, wondering why there is no smoke or fire. ::
(21:30:25) ColDougMcKnight: :: Stands, or sits, or whichever at his station, still in a dour sort of state for reasons which have nothing to do with this planet. That actually gives him something else to focus on, thankfully. So he scans for residual weapons signatures to explain the depopulation Wright spoke of. ::
(21:32:24) CdrTKirr: :: keeps an eye on sensors as they approach, distracted by reports from the slipstream system ::
(21:32:56) JorvanTav: :: steps into the TurboLift as FINALLY the doors open before him ::
(21:33:09) JorvanTav: Deck Fifteen
(21:33:52) LtKuari [TKirr@90-43-96-75.res.bhn.net] entered the room.
(21:34:21) LtJGAlexisWright: Well, I have SOME findings, Commander, but I think they're going to prompt more questions than they answer.
(21:37:27) LtJGAlexisWright: :: continues scanning and analyzing data until she is asked to report, since everyone looks preoccupied ::
(21:37:40) ColDougMcKnight: :: Waits for it. ::
(21:38:57) JorvanTav: :: enters Sickbay and looks around to see that nothing has changed, and heads to his office where he opens a box of chocolates ::
(21:39:02) CdrTKirr: :: looks up from her seat :: What sort of readings?
(21:42:29) LtKuari: :: looks for Leda ::
(21:42:42) JorvanTav: :: places a piece of chocolate on his tongue and allows it to melt there, as he brings up the roster of crew members and their locations on his desk screen ::
(21:42:43) LtJGAlexisWright: I can tell you with 99.9% certainty that there were complex lifeforms on that planet when we initially scanned this sector, and now there are no lifeforms at all - sentient or otherwise. But I can clearly see multiple settlements scattered across the landmasses, and no inhabitants. I can only faintly detect anything resembling amino acids.
(21:43:29) ColDougMcKnight: INTACT settlements?
(21:44:30) LtJGAlexisWright: The atmosphere is no longer class M, and it looks to have been... depleted somehow. What's there now is very thin and not breathable. Gravity seems stable, as does magnetism and tectonic/geologic activity, but there is evidence of extensive liquid oceans and vast amounts of vegetation in the recent past, and it's all just.. gone.
(21:45:07) LtJGAlexisWright: Intact enough to be able to recognize them as obvious settlements from this far away, Colonel, but I can't say much more than that.
(21:46:21) LtJGAlexisWright: They're very primitive settlements, Sir.
(21:47:19) CdrTKirr: :: has by now shifted her attention fully to the sensor readings :: Fascinating.
(21:48:19) LtLedaHarper: Lieutenant Harper, along with a chunk of the rest of the Marine contingent, has been watching the slipstream run from one of the obs rooms - armed and armored, of course. Just in case the slipstream drive goes nuts and attacks the ship. As news of the successful run, and the sheer speed involved, trickles through there's a lot of excited chatter.
(21:48:29) VAdmBlackthorne: :: sends the report off ::
(21:48:45) LtLedaHarper: Leda herself leans with arms folded against one of the big windows, looking out on the abrupt change of stellar scenery with a faint, focused frown.
(21:48:47) ColDougMcKnight: :: Shrugs. :: Not getting anything done up here. Why not let me take a squad down and have a look? No atmosphere won't bother us, and if we don't find any planet eater amoebas, we can send the scanning crews in.
(21:49:30) LtJGAlexisWright: This is the best visual I can give you right now. Commander, may I put it on the main view?
(21:49:49) LtKuari: :: comes up from behind Leda and sits on the floor next to her, gazing out the window from beside her :: Exciting technology, isn't it?
(21:50:12) LtLedaHarper: "A little terrifying." Leda glances over her shoulder with a gradual smile, but her brow's still creased in thought.
(21:50:22) CdrTKirr: How soon until we arrive?
(21:51:28) JorvanTav: :: picks up the box of chocolates and carries them along as he heads to the observation room where he will find the Rucara.
(21:51:30) LtJGAlexisWright: Approximately 12 minutes until we enter standard orbit.
(21:51:32) CdrHarper: Ten minutes, present speed.
(21:51:42) CdrHarper: :: is totally at the helm! ::
(21:51:50) LtJGAlexisWright: (( Or that, sorry ))
(21:51:58) LtKuari: :: nods :: How could it not be.
(21:52:51) CdrTKirr: Once we reach orbit, do a full scan, and we'll go from there.
(21:53:05) LtJGAlexisWright: (( I'm still figuring out which stuff I'm supposed to answer and which stuff other people are supposed to answer, sorry sorry sorry >_< ))
(21:53:17) VAdmBlackthorne: (No worries!)
(21:53:48) ColDougMcKnight left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
(21:54:13) LtLedaHarper: "It took the better part of ten months for me to get from my homeworld to Earth. Granted, that was mostly through being ferried on freighters, but something like this would have made things a little simpler." Leda pulls breath, lets it go, nods to Tav as he pops through the door. "I suppose there are worse things than living on the cusp."
(21:54:28) ColDougMcKnight [Mibbit@d-11-78-963-05.hsd0.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(21:54:53) JorvanTav: :: pulls a chocolate out of the box and tosses it in the air :: Kuari! Think fast!
(21:55:18) VAdmBlackthorne: (WB McKnight)
(21:56:49) ColDougMcKnight: ( Gah. Sorry about that. Miss anything major? )
(21:57:04) LtKuari: :: darts her head around and catches the movement of the flying confection and, using the wall for leverage, rushes forward and catches it in her mouth, narrowly missing plowing through several marines ::
(21:57:44) VAdmBlackthorne: (Not much.)
(21:57:45) LtLedaHarper: There's a moment of startled milling as everyone gets out of the way, but they're used to it, and a brief ripple of general laughter rolls through the room. Leda chuckles.
(21:58:55) JorvanTav: :: with the moment of entertainment complete, sets the chocolates on a table off to the side of the room ::
(22:00:27) CdrHarper: Approaching the planetary system. Coming into main sensor range.
(22:01:06) LtKuari: :: chocolate consumed, grins at Tav :: Thanks! Feeling better?
(22:01:45) LtLedaHarper: Leda dips her chin. "Doctor. Good leave, I hope."
(22:02:21) ColDougMcKnight: ( Was there any response on the away mission thing? )
(22:02:22) CdrTKirr: On screen.
(22:02:26) LtJGAlexisWright: Running comprehensive sweep.
(22:02:32) LtJGAlexisWright: :: complies ::
(22:02:33) CdrTKirr: (( Yeah, waiting for orbital scan ))
(22:02:44) JorvanTav: :: smiles, realizing it's been a while since they last talked, and that Kuari had had to return to her quarters before he was out of the hyperbaric chamber :: Yes, I am feeling much better. Completely back to normal.
(22:03:36) CdrTKirr: ACTION> The curve of the dead-brown planet fills the main viewer at a slow rotation, looking every bit as lifeless as Wright described.
(22:03:38) CdrHarper: :: guides their course through the star system ::
(22:04:37) LtKuari: :: sobers a little :: Good. I was very worried.
(22:04:39) VAdmBlackthorne: :: checking up on the rest of Third Fleet now ::
(22:05:07) ColDougMcKnight: :: Frowns at the screen. :: How recent was that last survey?
(22:05:22) CdrTKirr: +Blackthorne+ Bridge to Admiral Blackthorne. We're arriving at the planet.
(22:05:57) VAdmBlackthorne: +TKirr+ On my way.
(22:06:08) LtJGAlexisWright: When we last left the Gencodia system, Colonel.
(22:06:24) LtLedaHarper: Leda watches out the window, dim frown deepening a little as the disk of their target world comes into view. "What's this then?"
(22:07:03) CdrTKirr: Standard orbit.
(22:07:33) CdrHarper: Yes ma'am. :: cuts warp and brings Atlantis into orbit ::
(22:07:40) JorvanTav: Bah, it was just some decompression sickness, just the bends. Sure, it used to be really bad long ago, but then, so was the common cold at one time.
(22:07:52) VAdmBlackthorne: :: arrives on the bridge from the ready room :: Report.
(22:08:07) LtKuari: :: cocks her head :: The what?
(22:09:42) LtLedaHarper: "Nitrogen narcosis. Long story." She chuckles over at Tav. "So you went diving? I think at least half of us headed for beaches."
(22:10:08) CdrTKirr: No signs of current life, but it appears to have once been M class like our last long range sensor reports indicate. Wright reports conditions for an Away Team are acceptable.
(22:11:03) CdrTKirr: :: looks to Wright :: Any more detail at this range?
(22:11:08) JorvanTav: :: beams at Kuari :: The common cold. Back before Earth's Twentieth Century, it was a disease that killed a lot of people. Then it became an inconvenience, and today it is almost non-existent. :: turns to Harper :: Kuari and I went diving, and I'll tell you what, when you put a tank on her, I wonder if she couldn't simply live underwater.
(22:11:13) LtJGAlexisWright: Now that we're closer, it looks like the settlements may have suffered some severe and sustained weather conditions - or something that looks similar - but the atmosphere is too thin to support that kind of instability now.
(22:11:17) VAdmBlackthorne: :: looks to Wright for a followup ::
(22:11:40) VAdmBlackthorne: :: looks back to T'Kirr :: Take a team, heavy on Science and Security.
(22:12:07) CdrTKirr: :: nods and stands :: Wright, McKnight, you're with me.
(22:12:47) LtJGAlexisWright: Aye, Commander. :: relinquishes her post and follows T'Kirr off the bridge ::
(22:13:06) CdrTKirr: :: looks to McKnight :: Bring a small detail and meet in Transporter Room One.
(22:13:19) CdrTKirr: (( and > to ))
(22:14:09) ColDougMcKnight: :: Thinking out loud, even as he sends a message down to security to have a squad standing by. :: Some kind of massive solar flare, maybe?
(22:14:31) VAdmBlackthorne: :: sits down in the center seat as he thinks a Be Careful to T'Kirr ::
(22:14:57) LtKuari: :: catches note of what Leda's looking at and turns to peer out the window ::
(22:15:28) LtJGAlexisWright: :: musing, nods in agreement :: That's certainly a possibility, given the change in the atmosphere, but I can't confirm it with what we know now. Permission to return to my quarters for some specialized gear and meet in Transporter Room 1?
(22:15:32) CdrTKirr: :: rides the TL down to Deck Six with the two other officers ::
(22:15:46) CdrTKirr: (( Err ))
(22:15:57) CdrTKirr: Permission granted.
(22:17:01) LtLedaHarper: The heavy not-quite-glass clinks faintly as Leda taps a thumb against it. "I suppose we're going to be put to work soon. That's a glum little world."
(22:17:58) ColDougMcKnight left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
(22:18:03) ColDougMcKnight [Mibbit@d-11-78-963-05.hsd0.ma.comcast.net] entered the room.
(22:18:03) LtJGAlexisWright: :: exits the TL for Crew Quarters and walks quickly toward her own while mumbling a list of complicated-sounding words ::
(22:19:36) CdrTKirr: :: arrives in TR1 and begins donning an EV suit ::
(22:20:03) ColDougMcKnight: + Security + McKnight to security. Amend that last order. Harper and Syvek to meet me in transporter room 1.
(22:20:04) CdrTKirr: (( WB Mike ))
(22:20:40) ColDougMcKnight: ( Thanks. Again. )
(22:20:40) LtJGAlexisWright: :: straps a few toys to her belt, grabs her modded tricorder and throws a few other things into her go-bag, feeds the cat, and dashes off to TR1 in time to start donning her EV suit before T'Kirr is finished with her own ::
(22:20:54) VAdmBlackthorne: :: eyes the planet, which reminds him of New Jersey ::
(22:21:12) VAdmBlackthorne: Syvek> +McKnight+ Aye, sir.
(22:21:25) LtLedaHarper: Leda straightens. "Duty calls." She touches fingertips to her temple in salute, tucking helmet under her arm as she heads out.
(22:21:25) LtJGAlexisWright: (( in which case the lifeforms were quite primitive and we're glad they're dead ))
(22:21:32) LtLedaHarper: +McKnight+ On my way, sir.
(22:22:00) CdrTKirr: :: before closing her helm piece, picks a suitable landing location at the console :: What do you think about just below this ridge here, Lieutenant?
(22:22:29) VAdmBlackthorne: Syvek> :: was in the security office, already suited up, anticipating away team duty, so he grabs his rifle, checks it one more time, and heads out ::
(22:22:32) LtKuari: :: watches Leda go, wishing she was going with ::
(22:22:57) LtKuari: Protect with purpose, Leda!
(22:23:39) LtLedaHarper: "Aye, Lieutenant!" Somehow Leda manages to snap a salute over her shoulder before skidding out into the hallway and heading for the lift at a brisk jog.
(22:23:44) LtJGAlexisWright: :: looks closely :: there may be a potential for rockslides or mudslides or sandslides or muckslides or slides of whatever is currently covering the surface, but I don't think it'll be a problem unless we're planning to make lots of loud noise.
(22:24:16) ColDougMcKnight: ( I'm just gonna say Doug's been wearing his armor on the bridge lately, minus helmet. Saves time. )
(22:24:42) VAdmBlackthorne: Syvek> :: arrives in the transporter room as he clicks his helmet into place :: Reporting as ordered, Colonel. :: nods to T'Kirr :: Commander.
(22:24:49) CdrTKirr: (( What a trooper! ))
(22:25:18) LtJGAlexisWright: (( I bet that gets annoying when he has to relieve himself. ))
(22:25:19) LtLedaHarper: (Besides, we make this stuff look good.)
(22:25:26) LtLedaHarper: (caaaaatheters)
(22:25:42) LtJGAlexisWright: (( #2? o_o ))
(22:25:56) VAdmBlackthorne: ((Hold it!)
(22:26:20) LtJGAlexisWright: (( EV suits don't come equipped with buttflap, I guess. ))
(22:26:27) LtLedaHarper: (ref: Schlock Mercenary last week. Yeah, icky.)
(22:27:00) ColDougMcKnight: :: Nods to those assembled beforw he dons his helmet, with the visible disruptor scorch on the side. After a moment, a hiss signifies seals are engaged, and he's switched to onboard oxygen. ::
(22:27:39) CdrTKirr: :: seals her own helm and takes her place on the pad ::
(22:28:01) VAdmBlackthorne: Syvek> :: checks his seals and O2 supply, then steps up, rifle at the ready ::
(22:28:35) ColDougMcKnight: 471st Marine Expeditionary Division, ready and waiting, Commander.
(22:28:36) LtLedaHarper: Leda's already snapping her own helmet on as she slides in a quarter-minute behind Syvek. She taps a hasty salute to the Colonel and hops up into place, slinging her own firearm into place.
(22:28:47) JorvanTav: :: looks out the window at the dead planet below :: That is amazing. I should head to Sickbay to monitor the away team. Want to come along?
(22:29:14) VAdmBlackthorne: Syvek> :: notes the 1LT insiginia on Leda's armor ::
(22:29:35) ColDougMcKnight: ( That's right. After 10 years, their unit gets a name. )
(22:29:46) VAdmBlackthorne: (Ooo-rah!)
(22:30:16) LtLedaHarper: (At least a number. We'll have to earn a nickname I suppose.)
(22:30:18) LtJGAlexisWright: :: seals and steps on the platform, hops off against and scurries over to get her go-bag, then steps back into the platform and tries to act natural ::
(22:30:28) VAdmBlackthorne: (As long as it's not the Redshirts.)
(22:30:41) LtLedaHarper: (We'll try not to die by the score. We ARE named characters after all.)
(22:31:21) VAdmBlackthorne: (So was Ensign Um... what was that guy's name again?)
(22:31:36) LtKuari: Sure! :: pops up to follow Tav ::
(22:31:56) CdrTKirr: Energize.
(22:32:23) JorvanTav: :: leads the way to Sickbay ::
(22:32:47) CdrTKirr: ACTION> The same dead-brown view from orbit surrounds the landing party in lifeless detail. Skeletal trunks of trees, now calcified into rock, dot the landscape. Nothing more than what could have once been a circle of huts squats nearby, and a nearby ridge once would have shielded it from wind.
(22:33:02) CdrHarper: Away team has beamed to the surface, Admiral.
(22:33:10) VAdmBlackthorne: : :nods :: Keep an eye on them.

(22:35:25) LtJGAlexisWright: (( totally overclocked my tricorder, yo ))
(22:35:29) LtLedaHarper: (Nerd.)
(22:35:40) LtJGAlexisWright: (( put some lights and extra fans in it ))
(22:35:50) VAdmBlackthorne: (And a spoiler and type-R sticker?)
(22:36:16) LtJGAlexisWright: (( word ))
(22:36:27) CdrTKirr: :: does a full circle before pulling out her own tricorder, backing as Science and unable to resist looking around through her little screen ::
(22:36:28) VAdmBlackthorne: Syvek> :: pans his rifle around, looking on his HUD for anything that might be a threat ::
(22:36:32) ColDougMcKnight: ( Just to let you all know, I'm gonna have to run in a minute. Gotta get home. )
(22:37:11) CdrTKirr: (( All right, we'll speed along ))
(22:37:14) LtJGAlexisWright: Well, my eyes are telling me that this place has been abandoned and weathered into its current state for centuries, but the tricorder data disagrees.
(22:37:22) VAdmBlackthorne: (Getting close to pause time anyway!)
(22:38:33) LtJGAlexisWright: It looks like all this weathering action took place in a very, very short timespan. Like... ....well, based on what I'm seeing here, in minutes at most.
(22:38:40) ColDougMcKnight: :: Looks around, analyzing the readings from his HUD. Just a regular tricorder supplying that with info though. ::
(22:38:47) CdrTKirr: :: follows her instrument slowly towards the not-buildings ::
(22:38:48) LtLedaHarper: Leda moves easily to cover the sweep opposite Syvek's. "I gather things looked a little different the last time the ship was here?"
(22:39:11) LtJGAlexisWright: (( need a spoiler on your helmet, Colonel? ))
(22:39:12) JorvanTav: :: arrives at Sickbay with Kuari in tow, stopping first in the middle of the room to make sure it's all ready to go though hoping it's not necessary, heads back to his desk where more chocolate waits and brings it out to the new away mission workstation that was installed during the overhaul ::
(22:39:55) LtJGAlexisWright: I'd like to enter the settlement, Colonel, with your go-ahead?
(22:39:59) LtKuari: :: perks up, studying Tav's hands ::
(22:40:53) VAdmBlackthorne: Syvek> :: finds nothing threat-worthy on the HUD, this place seeming quite dead ::
(22:41:06) LtJGAlexisWright: We're still negative for lifesigns, but there could be traps or something, I don't know.
(22:41:31) CdrTKirr: Or it could be exactly what it appears to be, a planet now completely void of life.
(22:42:10) JorvanTav: :: absentmindedly sets the box of chocolates on the workstation next to him, on the opposite side from Kuari, and grabs a chocolate out of the box and eats it as he brings up the vital signs of the away team ::
(22:42:32) ColDougMcKnight: :: Nods :: We've got your back.
(22:42:40) VAdmBlackthorne: (Mike, IM)
(22:43:11) LtJGAlexisWright: I mean, traps set by former inhabitants to keep intruders out. Like a tripwire attached to a projectile weapon. Or a pitfall with spikes at the bottom. Have I been reading too many books? I think I might be reading too many books.
(22:43:20) LtKuari: :: follows the path of the chocolate with her entire head, as if her eyes couldn't manage entirely on their own ::
(22:43:29) VAdmBlackthorne: Kate... how is the rebuilding effort going for the Sharks?
(22:43:41) VAdmBlackthorne: :: treads lightly, knowing this to bo a sore subject ::
(22:44:00) LtJGAlexisWright: :: walks slowly toward the settlement, making an exaggerated point of watching where she steps ::
(22:44:09) CdrTKirr: :: gazes oddly at Wright a moment before returning her attention to her tricorder ::
(22:44:43) CdrHarper: The Peregrine fighters from Captain Gerard certainly replenished our supply of planes. Pilots have been... problematic. I can at least field a wing now.
(22:44:44) LtKuari: :: flicks her tongue out to unnecessarily lick up her face towards her eye ::
(22:45:14) JorvanTav: :: realizes Kuari's action, and looks over at her :: Oh, sorry :: places a piece of chocolate in front of her snout :: You're welcome to take all you want!
(22:45:29) LtKuari: :: its gone before he finishes speaking ::
(22:45:34) ColDougMcKnight: :: Chuckles :: Marines, take point. And try not to get punjee staked.
(22:46:24) VAdmBlackthorne: Syvek> I do not believe a wooden spike would penetrate my boot, Colonel. :: as he moves up with Harper ::
(22:46:25) LtJGAlexisWright: :: is blushing furiously inside her helmet, strategically inspecting her tricorder at close range to keep anyone from being able to tell ::
(22:46:42) JorvanTav: (MAGIC EDIT: Tav HELD the piece of chocolate in front of Kuari's snout)
(22:46:57) CdrTKirr: (( 5min warning! ))
(22:47:14) LtLedaHarper: "Yessir." Harper moves comfortably alongside Syvek, helmet and rifle swiveling a little to sweep the area ahead. "Still rather not find out."
(22:47:43) VAdmBlackthorne: Good to know. I expect reports to that end next time, Commander. :: doesn't say that with much of an edge ::
(22:48:19) CdrTKirr: :: finds her scans coming through in remarkably short lists ::
(22:48:37) JorvanTav: :: Opens his comm so that he can hear and communicate with the away team :: Lieutenant Wright, are you okay? Your vitals seem elevated.
(22:48:38) CdrHarper: Yes, sir. Of course, sir. My apologies, Admiral, this has been a difficult time on that front.
(22:49:34) VAdmBlackthorne: You're handling it, Kate. Keep it up.
(22:49:53) CdrHarper: :: nods :: I will. Thank you, sir. :: directs her attention back to the away team monitoring ::
(22:50:31) VAdmBlackthorne: :: still wonders just how much scotch he's going to have to direct to Gerard over this ::
(22:51:03) ColDougMcKnight: ...There's no way this was us, right?
(22:51:34) LtJGAlexisWright: Gack! +Tav+ I, ah, I'm fine. Just excited about science! You know me! :: forced chuckling ::
(22:51:42) CdrTKirr: We've never been near here. Everything was on long range sensors from Gencodia.
(22:53:05) LtJGAlexisWright: Loooooook at this weathering action. It wasn't long ago, either. Months, maybe? It's like an enormous gigantic storm came and did all the storming this place would've seen in a thousand years all at once. I've never seen anything like it.
(22:53:27) JorvanTav: :: sees that Wright has closed the channel to all else and responded to Tav only, and responds to her in kind :: +Wright+ Very well. Just let me know if you're not feeling well for any reason. If we have a problem down there that could have health-related results, I need to know.
(22:53:36) LtJGAlexisWright: :: forgets about her blushing because now she's busy taking samples ::
(22:54:20) JorvanTav: :: watches as Wright's vitals are slowly returning to normal ::
(22:54:35) CdrTKirr: PAUSE SIM
(22:54:37) LtJGAlexisWright: +Tav+ I'll explain later. Doing science now.
(22:54:38) CdrTKirr: PAUSE SIM
(22:54:40) CdrTKirr: PAUSE SIM
(22:54:48) VAdmBlackthorne: :: pauses ::
(22:54:48) LtJGAlexisWright: :: || ::
(22:55:03) JorvanTav: :: pauses before he can respond to Wright ::
(22:55:05) VAdmBlackthorne: :science:
(22:55:15) CdrTKirr: HahahahaImadeJasonpause.
(22:55:33) VAdmBlackthorne: :: bows in deference ::
(22:55:33) ColDougMcKnight: ( Okay, need to run. I believe I've stuck it out those final 5 minutes, though. Night, all, and see you next week! )
(22:55:35) LtJGAlexisWright: Science: It works, bitches!
(22:55:47) CdrTKirr: See ya, thanks for staying!
(22:55:48) VAdmBlackthorne: Night, McKnight!
(22:55:54) LtLedaHarper: Thanks and g'night.
(22:55:56) JorvanTav: Good night!
(22:56:11) LtJGAlexisWright: night night, 'Knight!
(22:56:18) VAdmBlackthorne: The mystery deepens!
(22:56:32) ColDougMcKnight left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
(22:56:40) LtKuari: Just looks like a dead planet to me.
(22:56:42) LtJGAlexisWright: :: suspenseful silent movie music ::
(22:56:50) LtLedaHarper: Yup. Dead an' petrified.
(22:57:00) LtJGAlexisWright: But how did it get endeaded!? HOW?
(22:57:16) VAdmBlackthorne: Science demands an answer!
(22:57:30) JorvanTav: It's the petrified part that confuses me. Of course, Tav can't see that. Maybe he needs to tie into the visual recorders that are in people's suits.
(22:57:32) LtJGAlexisWright: And an answer Science will provide!
(22:57:58) VAdmBlackthorne: Science, bitches.
(22:58:18) VAdmBlackthorne: Just landed an SUV on Mars using a motherfucking SKYCRANE. :smug:
(22:58:30) LtJGAlexisWright: :: flashes complicated Science gang signs ::
(22:58:32) CdrTKirr: =P
(22:59:09) JorvanTav: Have you seen the @SarcasticRover on Twitter?
(22:59:16) VAdmBlackthorne: Ha, no
(22:59:52) LtJGAlexisWright: I watched that landing... seriously, Sunday morning when I woke up I ran over to my husband and jumped up and down and said "It's today, it's today, it's today, Curiosity lands TODAY"
(23:00:05) LtJGAlexisWright: I had a serious nerd-on
(23:00:08) CdrTKirr: =D
(23:00:16) VAdmBlackthorne: We stayed up to watch it too
(23:00:49) LtJGAlexisWright: We? *furiously wiggling eyebrows*
(23:00:54) EnsUrist: mohawk space jesus and dimple girl for life
(23:01:14) VAdmBlackthorne: also calm asian narrator
(23:01:29) CdrTKirr: Hey, Urist's alive
(23:01:52) CdrTKirr: Sorry I didn't throw anything at you. Yet.
(23:01:55) JorvanTav: "I just did my FIRST GEOLOGICAL SURVEY OF MARS... MOST ROCKS ARE UNDECIDED, but still plan to vote. Go Democracy!
(23:02:00) EnsUrist: urist has nothing to do until busard is here to twitch
(23:02:14) LtLedaHarper: Won't be long.
(23:02:25) VAdmBlackthorne: Hopefully!
(23:02:35) LtJGAlexisWright: I did get a post on my Facebook wall from the rover saying "GALE CRATER I AM IN YOU"
(23:02:50) VAdmBlackthorne: I saw that one
(23:02:53) CdrTKirr: I don't have to go to work tomorrow. ^_^ I gave my shift away.
(23:03:02) CdrTKirr: Still tired, though. -_-
(23:03:58) LtLedaHarper: ...you're kidding.
(23:04:02) LtLedaHarper: That's horrible. But priceless.
(23:05:43) JorvanTav: "Buzz Aldrin got a parade, all I get is Wesley Crusher retweeting my instagrams. Whatever. @wilw"
(23:06:36) LtJGAlexisWright: "I'm safely on the surface of Mars. GALE CRATER I AM IN YOU!!! #MSL"
(23:06:53) VAdmBlackthorne: There was one like, "Two years and I get to go home, right guys? Guys?"
(23:07:28) JorvanTav: Got a rock in my tread... fantastic. I already hate this place. John Carter can have it.
(23:08:56) LtJGAlexisWright: That song in 'Waiting for Guffman' was right!! NOTHING EVER HAPPENS HERE. (except the slow decay of my remaining isotopes and dreams)
(23:09:39) JorvanTav: Okay, we are having waaaaaay too much fun with a twitter account
(23:09:58) VAdmBlackthorne: So is NASA!
(23:10:15) JorvanTav: "With my luck, if I do find bacteria on Mars - it'll be syphilis."
(23:11:55) LtJGAlexisWright: Phobos keeps mooning me! LOL I'M HILARIOUS.
(23:12:10) VAdmBlackthorne: Ahahaha
(23:12:56) JorvanTav: Working on a novel called "50 Shades of Red" ... it's about a sexy nuclear-robot and the Mars-Rock that falls in love with it.
(23:13:49) JorvanTav: Accidentally ran over an alien - buried it - killed all witnesses - no cops on Mars. Perfect crime!!!
(23:14:25) LtJGAlexisWright: If they'd let Michael Bay design me like I wanted, I'd have a robot penis and spinners. And everyone on this planet would recognize!
(23:14:42) VAdmBlackthorne: And explode :V
(23:15:26) JorvanTav: I keep yelling out "GEORDI, EJECT THE CORE!" just to see what happens. Turns out nothing. #lame
(23:16:21) LtJGAlexisWright: You guys are being so nice that I almost forgot I'm doomed to die alone and forgotten like a Zune. JK nothing makes me forget that!
(23:16:34) VAdmBlackthorne: lol
(23:17:02) JorvanTav: That's funny
(23:18:03) LtJGAlexisWright: My brother-in-law has a Zune and thinks it's cool. Poor schmuck.
(23:18:21) VAdmBlackthorne: That's cute.
(23:19:11) JorvanTav: I use my X-Band transmitter for status updates, and my XXX-Band transmitter for sexting.
(23:19:28) VAdmBlackthorne: :quagmire:
(23:19:53) LtJGAlexisWright: Guess who's got no thumbs, nuclear power and is now the Mayor of Mars on foursquare? #thisrover
(23:19:59) JorvanTav: Just found Carmen Sandiego! She wasn't on the world at all, that sneaky bitch!
(23:21:06) JorvanTav: I wish George Lucas was alive to see this... LOL, sorry, I meant I wish his artistic integrity was alive to see this.
(23:21:19) VAdmBlackthorne: Ohhhh SNAP
(23:21:35) LtJGAlexisWright: ^
(23:22:21) LtJGAlexisWright: Every time I do a science, Carl Sagan's ghost has an orgasm. GO SCIENCE!
(23:22:47) VAdmBlackthorne: SCIENCE
(23:23:01) JorvanTav: I've got 17 CAMERAS - but none are in 3D, so no one under 20 will give a shit. Thanks James Cameron... dick.
(23:23:16) VAdmBlackthorne: :damn:
(23:23:21) LtJGAlexisWright: Really wish I could get that heat shield back! It had a +6 Enhancement Bonus & -10% Arcane Spell Failure. HOPE MARS IS ORC FREE!
(23:23:28) VAdmBlackthorne: Actually, it does have 3D cameras
(23:25:10) JorvanTav: Just found a box with a cat and some caesium triggered poison inside... Pretty sure it's dead. 'CAUSE ON MARS EVERYTHING'S DEAD!
(23:25:21) LtJGAlexisWright: @levarburton MARS IS LONELY! But you don't have to take MY word for it… LOL JK, you do because I'm the only one here!
(23:26:35) JorvanTav: They say loneliness can drive you insane. Luckily these rocks started talking to me!!! SO MANY FRIENDS. ALSO MY HAZCAM HAS ITCHES.
(23:26:55) VAdmBlackthorne: lol
(23:28:02) LtJGAlexisWright: OKAY that's enough for me. <3
(23:28:06) LtJGAlexisWright: Night, guys~!
(23:28:18) LtJGAlexisWright left the room (quit: Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
(23:28:19) JorvanTav: I will turn in as well. Good night everyone
(23:28:25) VAdmBlackthorne: Night all!
