(10:01:17 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: Hello!
(10:01:27 PM) CdrTKirr [Mibbit@97.103.6.3795] entered the room.
(10:01:27 PM) Guest1743 left the room (quit: Exit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client).
(10:01:31 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: Hay.
(10:01:44 PM) LtKuari [Mibbit@97.103.6.3795] entered the room.
(10:01:47 PM) CdrTKirr: Hai.
(10:01:47 PM) CdrHarper [Mibbit@dm-1706.rcmdva.fios.verizon.net] entered the room.
(10:04:41 PM) DrRoxanneCarre [Mibbit@dm-6026.tukw.qwest.net] entered the room.
(10:04:45 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: Hiya Doc
(10:05:00 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: Hiyas
(10:07:07 PM) CdrTKirr: Hi Carre.
(10:07:23 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: How tricks?...or Aion?
(10:07:23 PM) CdrTKirr: Is your Aion subscription terminated?
(10:07:27 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: Yeah
(10:07:36 PM) CdrTKirr: Okay.
(10:07:43 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: No kinah for you!
(10:07:48 PM) CdrTKirr: Newp. =/
(10:07:51 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: :(
(10:08:01 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: S'okay it was only a couple of million.
(10:08:42 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: I totally wish I had that in wow.
(10:08:57 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: I don't even have a million!
(10:09:04 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: And I'm internet-rich!
(10:09:24 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: I'm dancing-on-the-mailbox poor.
(10:09:27 PM) CdrTKirr: Makes you wonder, if we put the same efforts into RL what we'd have. =P
(10:09:42 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: I actually put very little effort into it, people are just dumb
(10:09:55 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: A few minutes a day at most
(10:09:56 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: I do okay IRL...or okay enough for me anyway.
(10:10:10 PM) CdrTKirr: Okay well then I'm not talking about you.
(10:10:25 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: hehe
(10:10:40 PM) CdrTKirr: Sounds like you're just settling, Carre =/
(10:10:40 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: I do miss Joe and a couple of the other guys though.
(10:10:46 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: NO WAI
(10:11:07 PM) CdrTKirr: You just said you're poor. How can being poor and being okay go together? =P
(10:11:17 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: I'm wow poor
(10:11:22 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: Internet money!
(10:11:24 PM) CdrTKirr: Ohh hah =)
(10:11:41 PM) CdrTKirr: The "mailbox" word threw me.
(10:11:46 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: haha
(10:12:14 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: I aint rich IRL but I'm not eating beans every night either and my rent is paid.
(10:12:33 PM) CdrTKirr: I wanna be wealthier when I wake up than when I went to bed.
(10:12:43 PM) CdrTKirr: Until I get into that, I'm not satisfied.
(10:13:06 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: I earn a little over 2 hours of vacation a week...that works pretty well for me.
(10:13:16 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: Does $0.25 richer count?
(10:14:10 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: I want people to pay me for being awesome and just let me play around with their stuff and come up with awesome stuff for them with little supervision.
(10:14:30 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: No, you cant have my job!
(10:14:37 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: :(
(10:14:57 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: Also google groups isn't loading so I can't read the last few lines of what happened last week.
(10:15:12 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: http://atlantis.orbitalsunrise.net/chatlogs
(10:15:22 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: I'm gaining money every month, that works for me.
(10:15:58 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: Even after spending on hobbies, like ordering the remainder of the equipment I need for my brewery!
(10:16:03 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: isn't that log for week before last?
(10:16:10 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: Well last week was the party
(10:16:23 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: o rite.
(10:16:43 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: We have enough to proceed with the current plot even without McKnight and Busard.
(10:16:49 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: I didnt lose my retirement in the last crash...that works for me.
(10:17:13 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: I'm gonna get me a new phone, one of them cylon jobs.
(10:17:20 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: Er, Androids :v
(10:17:25 PM) CdrTKirr: iPhone4 ftw
(10:17:37 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: iPhone rocks
(10:17:48 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: Easy enough that even Mr. Brat can use it.
(10:18:00 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: Yeah but you'll never catch me voluntarily giving AT&T money, so until I can get one elsewhere, no iphone for me.
(10:18:09 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: But I have access to all the apps on my ipod touch :)
(10:18:36 PM) CdrTKirr: The iPhone4's facetime ability alone is revolutionary, unless someone can point me to a phone that acts like a PC camera
(10:18:56 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: During the quake we had up here, my att cell worked, cant say that for any of the other carriers.
(10:18:58 PM) CdrTKirr: But yeah it'll be with other carriers soon enough, just wait
(10:19:23 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: (I made 5-6 calls for people).
(10:19:25 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: AT&T is evil. Their logo is the death star.
(10:19:46 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: Yeah and their logo is "Come to the dark side"
(10:19:48 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: I had some major disagreements with them in the past and they can die in a fire.
(10:19:49 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: :p
(10:19:58 PM) CdrTKirr: You sure don't make tentative opinions about anything. =X
(10:20:01 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: *slogan
(10:20:10 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: You know this about me already. :)
(10:20:18 PM) CdrTKirr: I mean goodness, how many of those people still work there?
(10:20:30 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: They moved to india!
(10:20:44 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: Their logo IS the death star though. C'mon, that can't be on the ip and up.
(10:20:45 PM) CdrTKirr: It's people like you that start wars!
(10:21:12 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: I mean, think about all those poor people on Alderaan.
(10:21:26 PM) CdrTKirr: *facepalm*
(10:21:37 PM) CdrTKirr: Yeah, I did know that looked a lot like "star wars".
(10:22:15 PM) CdrTKirr: But... you weren't referring to that, you were referring to your "death star" comment.

(10:33:27 PM) CdrTKirr: I wonder... :: tap tap ::
(10:33:59 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: No blowing up the asteroids, Kate, there's science to be done.
(10:34:09 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: :: as he walks onto the bridge and sits down ::
(10:34:40 PM) CdrHarper: Oh, no, of course, I'd never.
(10:36:07 PM) CdrTKirr: I noticed an alteration in drift patterns earlier, but not enough time has passed to create an explainable change, unless we account for the density of the outer asteroids.
(10:37:18 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: Well, what if we DO account for that? What do we need to do to get that info?
(10:38:54 PM) CdrHarper: :: still feeding data to science ::
(10:39:09 PM) CdrTKirr: :: replaces the data displayed with one of Atlantis' wide-angle camera images and points to the right side :: Here's Refuge. :: points to the left, at the closer, bits of asteroid :: Here is where we've been performing... "target practice".

(10:41:47 PM) CdrHarper: :: twitches, eyes the scoreboard, wanting to beat the top ::
(10:42:44 PM) CdrTKirr: :: motions toward the right :: Since the asteroids have been broken apart here, Refuge has begun to very slowly drift away. It's almost immesurable, but with auxilliary power routed to sensors, we're able to see it's against the direction previous data predicts.
(10:44:23 PM) DrRoxanneCarre: :: to Harper: yep RC right on top ::
(10:45:02 PM) CdrHarper: :: not for long! ::

(10:47:09 PM) CdrHarper: Yes sir!
(10:47:12 PM) CdrHarper: :: starts playing asteroids ::
(10:48:26 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: :: reviews data carefully :: ... Yes, Commander. I think that could be related. As Refuge drifted away,.... Oh, the thermal scans are complete!
(10:50:39 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: ..... huh. :: taps a few keys and looks closer ::
(10:51:04 PM) CdrHarper: :: dies horribly ::
(10:51:16 PM) CdrHarper: :: swears elaborately in Bolian ::
(10:52:16 PM) CdrTKirr: :: looks to Wright expectantly ::
(10:54:01 PM) CdrHarper: :: tries again, thinking it much easier to actually destroy asteroids in a Mustang than play this damn game ::
(10:54:49 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: Sooooooo. :: points to an area just under the station :: There is some excessive heat being generated here that Venya is not aware of. Computer, display Refuge blueprints...
(10:57:07 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: If we compare these with the thermal scans... it appears that the heat is coming from the bottom levels of Refuge... which looks like power generation and... uh, sewage. Something down there is causing enough heat to liquefy that mineral under the surface, and then the gravitational anomalies of the drift due to the broken asteroids...
(10:57:56 PM) CdrTKirr: :: watches with interest as Wright connects the dots ::
(11:01:25 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: So there are two problems here. I think we need to have Refuge go down and physically look at the areas indicated on these schematics, and while they do that, we need to determine scenarios that will correct the gravitational anomaly. Maybe we could fuse the asteroid back together? Determine how much mass was lost, that sort of thing?
(11:01:31 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: It's kind of jury-rigged, but....
(11:02:16 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: :: trails off and looks at T'Kirr for feedback ::
(11:03:24 PM) CdrTKirr: :: puts up the data again :: I believe the asteroids' gravitational pull is the source of the disruption.
(11:06:08 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: :: heads back out onto the bridge ::
(11:06:19 PM) CdrHarper: :: hurriedly closes Asteroids ::
(11:06:24 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: But the problem can't be completely resolved unless we can reduce the thermal output that's causing the liquefaction as well. :: transmits schematics with thermally hyperactive areas indicated back to Refuge with instructions to physically inspect :: While they do that, what do you propose to do about the asteroid?
(11:08:05 PM) CdrTKirr: Our duty is to inform Admiral Blackthorne of our findings. It's up to him, and ultimately Refuge what to do with it.
(11:09:08 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: :: nods :: You're right. :: raises her voice :: Science to Bridge.
(11:09:24 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: +Wright+ Blackthorne here.
(11:11:35 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: +Blackthorne+ We've determined that the quakes are caused by two factors - unusual thermal output beneath refuge, and gravitational disruption due to an event that affected other asteroids in the field. I've transmitted the information that Refuge will need to further investigate the unusual thermal output back to their science lab, but
(11:12:37 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: resolved the gravitational disruption could be a little more involved and will probably require long-term maintenance. Do you want us to pursue more definite solutions, or present this information to Refuge and let them go from here?
(11:12:46 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: (resolving*)
(11:13:38 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: +Wright+ I want definite solutions that we can implement ASAP, Lieutenant. :: the engineer in him kicks in :: Is it possible that the heating you're seeing is from seismic friction caused by gravitational stress from the asteroids?
(11:14:43 PM) CdrTKirr: :: looks to Wright ::
(11:14:45 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: +Blackthorne+ It's possible, sir, but the thermal scans are showing a pretty localized effect. :: transmits thermal scan data with Refuge schematics overlay ::
(11:15:13 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: +Blackthorne+ The more pressing problem is the gravity, so that's the one we should correct first.
(11:16:03 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: +Wright+ Then come up with a plan to safely stop that gravitational influence.
(11:16:45 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: +Blackthorne+ But all the same, I would like Refuge to go down and take a look at the areas indicated on the thermal scan and see if something isn't out of whack while we work out the whole gravity thing.
(11:17:02 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: +Wright+ That's fine, send them instructions on what you'd like them to do.
(11:17:25 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: +Blackthorne+ Aye, sir. Science out.
(11:17:54 PM) CdrHarper: :: overhears and directs the main sensor array to plot out a gravitational field from the asteroids ::
(11:18:00 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: Okay, Commander. Do you have any ideas about how to make these asteroids behave?
(11:18:39 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: Geology is my specialty, microgravity isn't.
(11:19:36 PM) CdrTKirr: Well McKnight's handiwork seems to have been effective.
(11:25:00 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: :: While T'Kirr is thinking :: Computer, use gravitational data currently being provided by sensor array and stored data regarding Refuge's past orbit and calculate what changes will be necessary to adjust the orbit to match historical observations.
(11:25:34 PM) CdrTKirr: If gravitational stress is causing quakes within Refuge, perhaps we should remove the source of the stress.
(11:27:23 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: But the cause of the issue is due to Refuge drifting away because this large asteroid broke apart and reduced gravitational pull in historical directions... isn't it? :: circles asteroid and surrounding debris on the display in front of her ::
(11:28:02 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: Or... maybe I'm confused?
(11:28:50 PM) CdrTKirr: Refuge drifting away suggests the larger asteroids' gravitational influence. I believe that influence is the source of the quakes.
(11:30:38 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: (( I'm really confused by this logic, but I'm willing to go with it if it'll progress the story... ))
(11:31:16 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: (( so go with it? ))
(11:31:56 PM) CdrTKirr: (( Wasn't my intention! If the asteroids surrounding Refuge are more dense and pull on it, do you think it's possible that could cause movement within Refuge's structure if this shift? ))
(11:32:01 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: (( Refuge picks up newer asteroids in the belt, perhaps, of much higher density, therefore with more gravitational influence so yeah)
(11:33:18 PM) CdrTKirr: (( And the strange substance under Refuge could be more sensitive to it and heat up ))
(11:33:45 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: (( Gravitational pull can cause friction leading to heat, as well)
(11:34:02 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: :: blinks as the computer returns calculations :: OH! I see what you mean! It looks like these asteroids around Refuge have only been recently pulled into this orbital sphere... that could DEFINITELY have this effect! :: taps three large asteroids on the display ::
(11:35:10 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: The computer indicates that if we can destroy these three asteroids with these trajectories, we should be able to return gravitational stress to Refuge back to historical "normal".
(11:35:13 PM) CdrTKirr: :: nods and watches ::
(11:35:42 PM) CdrTKirr: Agreed. What isn't safe to destroy, we can tractor.
(11:36:21 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: :: nods :: Let's do it, then. +Blackthorne+ Science to Bridge.
(11:36:29 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: +Wright+ Bridge here.
(11:38:13 PM) LtJGAlexisWright: +Blackthorne+ We recommend deploying Atlantis' payload to destroy these three asteroids with the trajectories I have noted... :: transmits visual data ::
(11:38:52 PM) VAdmBlackthorne: :: forwards the data on to Tac and Ops :: +Wright+ Thank you, Lieutenant. Blackthorne out.
